Hailey had been given the confirmation and she was allowed to adopt Luciana, she had arranged to sign the paper work when Lucie gets released from hospital, that just so happens to be today. Hailey was excited but nervous, she wanted it to all work out, she wanted Lucie to be happy.
She checked the apartment again to make sure everything was okay, she nodded when he accepted it, she then grabbed her car keys and left the apartment and went to her car, then she started the engine and made her way to the hospital, when she got there she smiled knowing this would be the last time she was going in there to see Lucie.
"Hey baby girl, today's the day" Hailey says with a smile on her face as she walks in the room and sees Lucie sitting on the bed with a huge smile on her face, the two chit chat for a moment and then a social worker and Doctor Manning walk in with the paperwork and a pen. Hailey makes a start and she is soon done with them both, she smiles and then the social worker announces "your now officially Luciana's parental guardian".
Natalie Manning smiles and then jokes "so Princess Lucie May Upton, you ready to start your new life", Hailey smiles at the doctor, Lucie smiles at her also and nods her head. Hailey then looks at Luciana and holds out her hand "come on then kitten", the little girl smiles and takes Haileys hand. But as they are both abouts to leave the room Lucie sits there and doesn't move.
"what's wrong?" Hailey asks, the little girl looks at her in a worried way and does grabby hands, Hailey smiles and picks the girl up, Luciana rests her head on the crook of Haileys neck, as she is carried all the way to the car. Hailey places her In the booster seat that she had gotten for her, she straps her in and then hands her the fluffy unicorn.
"So, Lucie, I have already spoken to my boss and he is allowing me to have some time off, so that means more time to spend with you. But I do need to speak to my boss again , so are you okay to go with me to my work place" Hailey asks as she turns her head to the back of the car. Luciana stutters out a question "y, y, you, k, keep me, s, safe?"
Hailey smiles and nods her head and answers reassuringly "ill always keep you safe, but you don't have to worry, nobody there is going to hurt you, they will love you, yes but definitely not hurt you". The young girl smiles and then nods her head in agreement "o, okay" she says back.
Hailey then starts the engine and proceeds to drive of to the 21st district, she pulls up in the parking space and then gets out the car and helps unbuckle Lucie out of the booster seat. She smiles at the little girl and then asks "you want to be carried again or you okay to walk? , you can hold my hand", the little girl just smiles and goes grabby hands to signal she wants to be carried.
Hailey doesn't hesitate and picks the girl back up and carries her into the district, when she walks in Trudy looks at her with a smile and the sargent doesn't hesitate in saying "awww, well you must be Luciana, ain't you a sweetheart, my names Trudy". The little girl looks at the woman with grey hair and she smiles at her.
Hailey then walks up the stairs to the unit as she continues to carry Lucie on the side of her, when she gets upstairs, Burgess is first to notice and she gets up immediately and smiles at the girl "she's a cutie Hailey, she really is" Kim says. Hailey smiles and asks her "you couldn't just look after her for a minute could you?" Burgess nods and takes the girl out of Haileys hands.
Literally seconds from being taken from Hailey, Lucie starts to bawl her eyes out, Kim tries to calm her down but she doesn't have any luck, Jay then walks over to the girl and smiles at her "now now, you don't have to cry, Hailey is only in that room there, and believe me, she wouldn't leave you with anyone who was going to hurt you" he says trying to reasuree the girl.
Luciana the looks back at Kim who has her in her arms, the little girl then sniffles "s, s, sowy", Burgess smiles and replies back "you don't have to apologise, your scared, and that's completely understandable but you really don't have to be. Hailey isn't the only one who is going to keep you safe, everyone in this room will, and even Sargent Platt down stairs".
The little girl then sniffles back "G, g, grey head", Atwater chuckles at the girls comment and jokes "your the only one who could get away with saying that, but yes, your not exactly wrong". Kim giggles too and replies in agreement "definitely, you see Lucie, you have your age on your side, and your adorable too so there is that". The little girl starts to let out a little giggle.
Suddenly Adam Ruzek comes up the stairs he sees Kim holding the girl and he asks "is this Haileys little girl then?", Jay nods and answers "sure is" he then turns to Lucie and says as he points to Adam "Adam meet Lucie, Lucie meet Adam". The little girl then holds out her hand and places it on Adams face "t, t, Teddy b, bear".
Adam chuckles and replies "I can deal with that", Kevin then jokes "yours is better than Platts, she's got the name grey head", Adam struggles to hold his laughter in and laughs "that's priceless, brilliant one kiddo". The little girl giggles slightly and then she does a yawn and she rests her head on the crook of Kim's neck.
Kim then orders the the lads "be quiet now you three, someone's sleepy", the three of them then go back to there desks. Burgess sits down at her desks and keeps still so the little girl can sleep, it don't take long before she falls asleep in her arms. Kim smiles as she looks at the little girl sound asleep.
Just then Hailey comes out, she smiles at Jay and the others and then walks over to Burgess, she sees the sight of the sleeping girl and chuckles a little "Bless her, she's gotten used to you already Kim". Burgess nods her head with a smile and then hands Lucie back over to her, Hailey takes her carefully and then proceeds to walk downstairs and back to the car.
