{Authors Note: Hey y'all! this is my first official story. I'm going to try to update regularly, however I do have classes so just be patient. Thank you for reading, and Enjoy!}

6:00 am. The alarm goes off waking me up. My dark brown eyes open up and reveal my somewhat messy room. I sit up from my big bed, and look around. It's funny how a 30 year old man can have a messy room. You think I would be a teenager living like this.  I finally get out of my bed, and make my way to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, I pull out three eggs, bacon, and cheese. I began to cook the bacon, and as I'm waiting to flip, I start preparing the omelet. This is what I normally eat every day. It's the most balanced breakfast out of all breakfasts. It has your protein, your dairy, and the carbs, which is what a lumberjack like me should have daily. After the bacon finished, I add my eggs into the pan, and the toast in the toaster. It's faster to do it this way. After everything was cooked, I began to eat. It's the same every day. wake up, eat, get ready, and work. Being a lumberjack isn't easy, but it's something I love to do. After eating, I start to get ready in the bathroom. I brush my brown hair, and my teeth, then began to head to my room to change. It was going to be cold today, so I put on the classic red flannel, and tuck it in my dirty blue jeans. I then put my work boots on and head out. I grab my axe and start to walk. My home isn't too far from the forest, but it still takes a little bit.

I looked into the forest, and head straight in the path I made. Looking for trees was a breeze, but I had to find the right wood. My project called for light birch wood, and I had none of it. I started to trail off the pathway since I knew there was no birch wood ahead of me, and continued forward. While walking, I noticed an abandoned shed. It looked sad, but was full of life. Flowers were everywhere around it, and somehow looked clean for how beat down it is. Next thing you know I was heading for it. I don't know what my body was doing. It felt like I was possessed to walk over there and go in. I started to think 'This is crazy! What am I doing just walking into a shed like this. I could get attacked by raccoons or something.'  It was too late. The door was opened and I walked in. To my surprise, it looked like a home. there was a little kitchen to the right, with a bed to the left. The table was made out of a tree stump from an oak tree, and the chairs were boulders. There was no stove, or fridge, but there were berries, and bread. 'Who could've lived here? Are they still around?' I started to think for a moment, then looked towards the bed. The mattress was really dirty, and the pink cover was ripped. "What the-" I heard a creak coming from what looked to be a bunker. I turned around and said "Who's there? Come out now!" The bunker door opened.

It was dark, then came out what looked to be a little girl. She had thick long ginger hair, dark blue eyes, and was very pale. She had to be no more than 9 years old. She was wearing a white ripped shirt, and muddy jeans. It looked like she was abandoned by her family, and lives here. My eyes opened wide with surprise. Why would someone abandon a little girl? There are other ways to leave a child and make sure they are healthy, like putting them up for adoption. 'Ugh. Humanity fails me once again...' I tried to walk towards her, but she walked back in fear. I knew something, or someone had hurt her. "Hey... It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you." I tried to speak as soft as my deep voice can go. She looked at me with fear still as if she won't trust me ever. I just sat down, and threw my axe on the side to show the peace. She was looking at the axe, then looking back at me. Repeatedly looking at the axe, then back at me. Then with a quiet, raspy, yet weak tone, "You promise?" I was shocked that she spoke to me finally. I nod my head in response to keep the quiet, not to shock her. She comes closer, and starts to touch my prickly face. I kept eye contact with her as she kept rubbing my stubbed beard. It was a little weird, but I let it happen. "So prickly." She had said. I start to laugh because of this. She starts to back away thinking she did something wrong. I then say "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to laugh at that." She makes her way back towards me, then goes for the axe. She was about to touch the blade then I screamed. "DON'T TOUCH THAT!!" And I ran toward her to pick her up. Her eyes began to widen up, and she let out a blood curdling screech. I take my axe and back away. She was crying as if something happened to her in her past. 'Who did this to you?'  I thought. She was really defensive, and started to block herself from all harm. I go in to hug her to calm her down. She then calms down, and falls asleep. I then pick her up, and take her to my home.
