My breath caught in my throat. Tears threaten to spill from my eyes but I fight them back. I wont ruin his recess again. It's time to grow up Amelia. Fight your own battles.
Austin's leg flies through the air and I close my eyes waiting,to feel the impact of his foot against my body. I hear a thwack, but feel no pain. After a minute I crack one eye open to find him sprawled out on the ground, a giant mark on his forehead where he must've kneed himself.

I didn't know you could knock yourself out like that! My laughter erupts from my chest the comedic relief momentarily distracting me from checking if,my bully was okay. Instead I turned and skipped home bursting through the door while yelling "Im home!" incase Dave was here. I love Dave.
Dave was my new daddy, he washes me, feeds me, and makes sure my siblings dont try to kill me in my sleep anymore. Best of all he teaches me to protect myself from bullies like Austin. He's an exmarine who loves me more than anything. I'm so glad he's here. After daddy left momma stopped coming out of her room, and Tim and Liz don't care much about the middle child, only about stupid Ethan. Not Dave though, Dave loves me!
I miss daddy but it doesnt hurt so much with Dave. He's my hero. My bestie. My new Daddy.
