"Smack" echoes around the room as tears rolled down my face. I can't believe she raised her hand to hit me.

I looked at my mama with anger as I said you really put your hands on me after I done for you?! My mother laughed in my face and then said, " don't you mean after everything I done for? Bitch I gave birth to your ass!! If I knew you was going to be such a pain, I would've aborted your ass.

I starred at my mother with disbelief and hurt in my eyes. I am tired of this life. If it wasn't for my brother and sister, I would've ran away and never returned.

" Don't look like that Nahla. You make me feel like a bad mom" said Tammy. "Maybe because you are" I mumbled harshly.

Tammy raised her hand at me again while saying "you know what I don't got time for your mess today. Take y'all assess to school."

I grabbed Zamora and I book bags as I walked to the front door. "Zamora and Raheem lets go"!! I yelled as opened the door.i looked around the neighborhood to see thugs posted on the corner, people rolling dice, and the old heads sitting on the porch smoking.

Soon as my siblings came outside we began to walk to school. We walked to school in silence. In 10 minutes we arrived Langston Elementary. I picked up Zaza while walking in the building to proceed to her class. I turned my head and yelled out to my brother" stay put. I will be right back" "iight" said Raheem.

Once I reached ZaZa class, I sat her down while saying "have a great day baby girl, I love you". " love you to sissy" said Zaza.

As my little sister walked in the class, I was heard towards the exist. Shortly after that,
Rah and I made it to Lincoln High.
