[Opal talking]
Ok, so how you layout this conversation starter is pretty simple, but you might want to think it out beforehand, basically it's 3 layered. First, you compliment something you like about them, then, you follow it up by a related fact about you, and a question relating to the topic, the topic being what you first complimented them on. The question will make them keep talking to you, giving you more room to get to know them and talk more. The thing about you or your experiences with the topic gives them some info on you to build off of, and the compliment gives them a positive idea of you, framing you in a nice way. An example of this method of ice-breaking is:
You: Hey, I like your hair dye!
Person: oh thank you!
You: You know, I dyed my hair recently, this is new! When did you do yours?
Person: oh, that's cool, I got it done... [Conversation ensues]
Boom, friendship! (I hope)
[Amethyst talking]
Another version of this kind of conversation is as followers
You: hey I love your soda tab earrings! Where did you get them/ did you make them yourself?
Person: Oh thanks! The story of how I got them is... conversation ensues
Now not all humans are like this. Some may just be like "oh thanks" and move on.
