Highschool
Namjoon and I didn't talk much ever since that emotional and traumatizing day at lunch. I felt hurt that he didn't seem to mention it, but we force ourselves to never utter a word about it, to forget. After some time, I got over it.
Anyways, he seems busy with his studies, his 'revolution' planning, and of course,
his new girlfriend. Imani.
The day Imani told me was when she was excitedly blabbering to me after school while I listened.
"I can't believe it! We literally just texted today and he goes on about how much he appreciates me and cares for me. Then he said he loves me the next! I can't believe this is happening." She screams happily through the phone.
"That's great," I say with a slight edge of ire.
Was I jealous?
Yes.
Am I still jealous?
Slightly.
I feel bad for feeling this way and being a terrible friend. I mean I am the one who said that it was for the best but-
It hurts so much. Feels like a dagger was thrown into my heart when she said that to me.
Whenever I see them, I muster up a smile underneath my envious emotions. Namjoon is always nice and spares me his captivating dimple smile.
Sometimes I want more than just that smile.
I try to tell myself that all boys do is break your heart from my parents' regular lectures. Though he's the one I loved and loved me even more.
At least I thought he did.
I should be happy Namjoon still invites me over to his house with Jungkook.
I gave the same excuse to my mother that I was studying with Imani and left with her usual nag about how girls are supposed to stay home.
I arrive at Namjoon's house and ring the doorbell to see a tall figure.
"Hey Y/N." He voices nervously avoiding my gaze.
"Hello, Namjoon." I look behind the tall figure to see Jungkook peeking at me. "No Imani still?"
He lets out a sigh closing his eyes out of grief as he lets me in. He runs his hair through his dark hair.
God, and he's still so hot. I look the other way trying to avoid him seeing my flustered face.
"I can't tell her about this..." He declares calmly.
"Yet," I counter.
"Yet." He chuckles at me.
Jungkook silently watches us as we arrive at Namjoon's room.
"I don't want to talk about the Revolution, let's hold it off for the next couple of months." He announces sitting on his chair as Jungkook and I nod but are stunned by his change of behavior.
Wasn't the whole point of this for the Revolution? It makes absolutely no sense that he's suddenly switching plans.
"Why would you suddenly change your mind about that?" Jungkook asks raising an eyebrow.
"I'm...tired. I'm stressed with school and my-
He stops stealing glances at me as I looked away ashamed."Girlfriend." He finishes.
"Woah, you have a girlfriend and you didn't even tell me!" Jungkook exclaims at him his eyes liting up. "You're really getting all the girls."
"No, it's really not like that." Namjoon humbly replies. "Just a girl at school.""It's still a girl though," Jungkook says beaming toward him. "Y/N, when are you getting a boyfriend?" He instantaneously looks at me with a gigantic smirk smothered on his face.
I gape at him startled by his sudden question.
"Not any time soon," I mumble harshly, hiding my embarrassment. I focus on the plant that is focused on the table and avoids the exchanges between Namjoon and Jungkook. I couldn't help but look at them though.
I could see Jungkook smiling smugly at Namjoon as he timidly grins back. I take a glimpse of Namjoon and could find a slight irritably with what Jungkook said, his anger hidden behind his eyes and was viewed as just a friendly and discomfiting smile.
I wonder how many times he hides behind that smile.
"Anyways, that's beside the point let's just focus on homework." Namjoon changes the subject by pushing away Jungkook. We spent the time focusing on our academics.
I stretch for a bit after a long hour of typing and peep at Jungkook sketching something in his black book.
"Jungkook, all you do is draw in that book. You never do your homework." I imply to him, revenge for when he said that to me earlier. It's petty I know.
"Well, I have a great passion for it. I love art a lot." He passionately reveals as he replies with a smile.
I didn't get my revenge, instead, I got him joyfully voicing his passion.
"Oh." I sheepishly reply. "What school do you go to?" I ask him, trying to change the conversation.
"Some preppy private school." Namjoon interrupts as he aggressively types on his laptop. Loudly.
"Well yeah, but it's honestly super annoying. They give twice the amount of work than normal schools. Good thing after all this I'll be majoring in art or music."
"That's cool." I look down back at my laptop. It reminds me of my parents who hate the fact that anyone could pursue a dream in the arts. They say it's not worth the time, but looking at Jungkook's sketches and craving for the arts, he could go far and wide with his art.
"You should go for it." Namjoon encouragingly replies as he looks up at Jungkook giving him a tender smile.
"I will!" Exclaims Jungkook with his bunny grin.
I couldn't help but join the infectious happiness as I beam as well.
"You can do it." I softly mumble.
