Pyra Santos, 16-year-old princess of The Fire Nation. Her mom died when she was five, in battle, leaving just her and her father, Lord Pharaoh, behind.

  Pyra grew up in confinement. She couldn't leave out the fire nation for years. Her father didn't want anyone knowing of her existence until she was old enough to defend herself from threats outside the nation. Once she became of age, her grandmother convinced her dad to let her enroll into Occult Academy. The school her mom had envisioned her going to once she was older.
Occult Academy usually enrolls all students into a low ranked class upon entrance, but this year one teacher by the name of Yoshi decides to change things up. He holds a battle for the new students to decide who will stay in the low ranked class and who will be placed into the high ranked class upon completion of their battle. After that day everyone is placed into teams in which they will be together until the school year is over.

Having to deal with being an outcast daily because of her high rank and family status, Pyra tends to stay to herself. She has already gained a couple of enemies in the school with the lower and upper classmen because of the nature of her status.

New student, Aedan Darragh, enters the Academy and shocks everyone when he destroys half the battle ground during his battle. He gains the attention of not only the girls in the school, but Leon the Academy's headmaster, during his fierce battle. After seeing Pyra on the roof top of the school on their first day of school and in battle, he becomes intrigued by her mysteriousness. He begins trying his hardest to befriend the maven. Having no luck with her during his first few weeks there he gives up, until he and she are grouped together for the rest of the school year.

A lot of things began happening in Narnia once word got out that the Fire Nation princess was in town. Rogue benders appear out of nowhere setting their sights on her. Pyra and her new friends began defeating the mysterious benders that threatens the school.
