They say that you do crazy things when you're in love.

They say that it's the only time you should ever do something crazy.

But I'd beg to differ.

I'd say you do crazy things when your nine year old sister is being held at gunpoint by someone you thought you knew.

That was the exact situation I found myself in on the last day of my life.

****

"Strike!" I yelled, doing a fist pump and dancing my way back to the table.

Adreanna, my nine year old sister, rolled her eyes before getting up to take her turn. I swear that girl is more mature than me.

She picks up the bowling ball and swings it forward onto the lane, twisting her wrist at the last second. The ball goes spinning towards the gutter.

"Ha!" I yell, pointing my finger at the lane. Adreanna just turns and gives me a devilish smile.

"Wait for it..." She says looking back at her ball.

As if on cue, the ball curves away from the gutter and hits the pins with force, bringing them all down.

My mouth drops open as I stare at Adreanna doing a victory dance. Who knew nine year olds were so strong?

She makes her way back to the table and we investigate our final scores. The little brat beat me by twenty two pins!

Adreanna starts putting her regular sneakers back on and I glance around the packed bowling alley.

My gaze falls towards the entrance doors and what I see makes my heart stop.

A tall beefy man stumbles through the door. He is bald and by the way he's walking, I know he is drunk.

It's my Uncle Carl.

He looks my way and when he catches my eye, he smirks at me.

Oh no.

He stumbles over to our lane and Adreanna looks up at the shadow crossing in front of her. Her face breaks out into a grimace.

We both know he's an alcoholic, but that never would have prepared me for what he did next.

He grabbed my sister by her arm and held her forward. He pulled a gun out of his jacket and held it up to her head. The bowling alley went silent in a matter of seconds.

I sit in my seat completely shocked. My uncle's back is to me but Adreanna is facing me. Her brown eyes dart around, tears falling from them.

"I want everyone on the ground. NOW!" Uncle Carl shouts. Everyone immediately drops to the ground, whimpering and covering their heads. Including me.

Adreanna's eyes follow my movements as I sit on the ground. They widen in shock as she realizes I'm not going to do anything.

But she's wrong. The petrified expression on my baby sister's face is enough to make me act.

Quickly, but silently, I rise from my sitting position and take a step forward. I lift my foot up and carefully place it atop the table. I quietly lift my body up and prepare myself to jump.

People around me gasp as they see what I'm trying to do, the surprise and fear in their eyes as they watch me catches my uncle's attention. Just as he turns around I leap onto him and tackle him to the ground.

In his moment of surprise, I am able to punch him in the face. My fist throbs after doing so and it takes all I have to do it again.

My uncle realizes what's going on and he uses his knee to jab me between my legs.

I hiss in pain but try not to let go of him.

"Adreanna! Kick him!" I scream at the little girl who stands terrified. Her eyes come back into focus and she rushes over to us. She draws back her foot and I hear the sickening bang of a gun and the crack of bone.

Uncle Carl stops flailing from underneath me but I barely notice. My stomach erupts in pain so bad it's as if someone set my body on fire.

I let out an ear piercing scream and I cry out uncontrollably.

I roll off of my unconscious uncle and clutch my stomach. I shriek again and look around for someone to help me escape this agony. A wide eyed Adreanna stands over me, but she's looking at my stomach.

"He-he shot y-you." She stutters out, a tear slipping down her cheek.

"HE SHOT YOU!" She screams louder, dropping to her knees next to me.

That's what this burning feeling is, a feeling so terrible it's as if someone made me a human torch. I scream louder this time as I bring my hand away from my wound to see a whole lot of blood.

"No! You can't die!" Adreanna sobs, but she's suddenly being pulled away by people in white scrubs. Paramedics.

One leans over me and reaches out to inspect my stomach, but I hold my hand up. I don't know why, and I don't know how, but something tells me I won't be alive much longer.

I question the paramedic with my eyes and he nods, despair and pity taking over his features.

Things around me become fuzzy and there are flashes of white. I stare into the hazy brightness and feel myself loosing grip on life. Adreanna's scream brings me back for a second.

"I love you, Adreanna," Is all I have time to say before the white light consumes me.

So as you can probably tell I have come back! I will be rewriting everything I have so far, and it will be different so you will need to reread everything. Again, I apologize for my absence but I had other books to finish.

Anyway, enjoy!
