Chapter 2
Fall break ended for Landon and he had to go back to work in construction for his father. I was relieved because I wouldn’t be seeing him as much and I was over joyed about that. He would work long days and want to go home and rest for the night just like before the never ending break. That gave him only the weekends to have an opportunity to see me. I knew it probably meant a lot of his work frustration would be carried out by slashing my body in multiple areas, but I had to just push that a side. Harry came into my mind quite a bit recently. I haven’t seen him since the reception over a week ago and I wondered what he was up to. I knew I should keep my mind off of him, but he attracted me the way no other male has.
I pulled up to Pet Co. to see if they had any new pets. I really wanted a companion like a dog or cat because I didn’t really have a human taking that spot in my life. Gabby was always with her boyfriend, she barely even came to the flat anymore. Lexi and Nicki were always out clubbing or going to work. I found myself wanting a job and I thought that my two year degree would help me, but it didn’t. There were barely any jobs available without experience required in this city unless you wanted to work at McDonald’s; which I didn’t. I walked through the bird section in the store first. There were a lot of exotic and colorful wings that caught my attention. I knew I couldn’t snuggle with a bird though so I moved on. I walked along the windows of different dog breeds. There were poodles, Dobermans, Chihuahuas, and more. They were all adorable, but my attention was placed on a white fluffy dog that didn’t specify that breed on the label. She was little and playing by herself. I smiled and placed my hand up to the glass. The door in her room opened and I saw curly hair before the boy stepped in with a refill of water. He glanced up and looked shocked to see me standing on the other side of the glass. He came out from the back after a moment and smirked as we walked over to me.
“What are you doing here?” He asked me, not stepping too close.
“I want a pet. I don’t know which one though.” I glanced back down at the white dog before me.
“That’s Bella. She’s incredibly cute. You have a good eye.” His words made me raise an eyebrow.
“Bella? You named her?” I asked, looking into his green eyes.
“Of course. If you get her, you can change the name but I hope you won’t. I like it.” He smiled before reaching a hand out to me. “Come with me.”
I placed my hand in his warm one and we strolled through the door leading to where you can access the puppies. He opened the door to Bella’s small room and placed her in my arms. I scratched the soft fur on her neck and she seemed to really enjoy the company. “What kind of dog is she?”
“She’s a teacup Pomeranian. The only one we got. The store wants to see if she sells quick enough to get more.” He explained as I kept my eyes on the fluffy creature snuggling in my arms.
“I want her.” I flicked my eyes up to him and he smiled.
“Okay. Umm, she’s pretty expensive Kammie.” He frowned.
“How much.” I asked, hoping it wasn’t too over budget.
“$7000.” My mouth dropped open at the number. “I know. It’s insane.”
“Wow.” I took in a deep breath, looking down at the beautiful dog. I sighed, closing my eyes. “That’s impossible.” I handed her back to Harry and he let her roam inside of her room again.
“Sorry about that. Didn’t mean to get your hopes up.” Harry said as he walked back into the main store.
“It’s alright. I was just looking. Getting ideas.” I said, staring into his gorgeous features. “I don’t mean to sound forward but why are you working in a pet store?”
