"Try to stop me then," you growl, raising your head.

Your fist clenches behind your back, your Haki tensing against his, the air shivering under their power.

"I only ask you to listen to me," he answers, his whole body tense. You watch him with distrust despite everything that happened through this day. "I didn't want to lie to you, but it was necessary."

"Go back to the surface, and let me go," you say slowly, keeping your voice steady to hide your anger.

The tall man leans to the doorframe, taking a deep breath, covering his bright eyes for a second.

You could fight him to make your way, but somehow you can't bring yourself to that.

As you look at him, you keep seeing the sight of colors around his silhouette.

A heart so hurt yet so kind inside, that even he doesn't know.

My thoughts are wandering off.

"I took your Dendenmushi because I didn't know who you are, where you came from," he says. He sounds exhausted and sad, which you don't understand completely. "What if you were a marine?"

"A marine would wear a unifrom at the war."

"Marine, pirate, revolutionary, it all doesn't matter in this case!" Law shouts. "I didn't care, I just had to be sure you aren't a threat to my crew before I let you contact anyone. Do you get it? It wasn't against you, it was just to protect them. These little bastards are my whole life and I mustn't let them get hurt."

Your heart misses a beat and you ease your strained muscles. He looks upset, but your features relax from his words.

It doesn't matter.

"You could have told me this in the beginning. Word by word," you answer silently, stepping forward to leave the room.

Sabo is coming.

The man scoffs and catches your waist to turn you back, pulling you against his body.

Your breath stops, and you grit your teeth, but when you try to push him away he holds you well.

You want to hit him, but you freeze when you look into his eyes, so close that you notice some brown spots hidden in the sea of gold.

They are honest and so vivid, begging you to trust, even if he would never say it out.

"I didn't trust you, but I do now, Wreny. Look in my fucking heart or whatever you need to believe me," he says quietly, his fingers pressing your skin as he's afraid you'll run away.

"That's not how it works," you answer, closing your eyes opposite his warm chest.

I should go.

"Then make it work like that."

You scoff and free yourself from his arms, backing up against the wall.

"How do I know you didn't hide my katana too?"

"I give my word."

"I don't give a fuck about your word," you say, and he looks at the ceiling, then suddenly smiles and shakes his head.

Only a few pulsing veins over his neck show you how he feels.

"But you give a fuck about me, Wreny. Else, you wouldn't have tried to help me tonight and drain your energy to give me back something I lost."

He elbows to the wall by your side and his face leans closer to yours so he can whisper to your ears.

You recoil until there is almost no space left, heavy suspense filling the air as he talks.
