This month we sat down with up-and-coming actress Ophelia Bates!
The 27 year old joined the Marvel cast in "Spider-Man Homecoming", as 'Quinn Presley', Peter Parker's teacher who gets dragged into the superhero world by her two favorite students. Her comedic relief in the movie was perfect as the exasperated English teacher/decathlon's co-teacher. She reprised her role in "Spider-Man Far From Home " and we got to see some emotional depth and tear jerker moments between Bates' character and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) regarding the events of Avengers End Game & Infinity War.
Ophelia made her major acting debut as Kate Vaughn alongside Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and many other big names in 2019 film "Little Women". Despite having a small background role, Bates become a fast member of the cast family and a fan favorite! Pugh is also a member of the Marvel family and the two are featured on each others instagram pages frequently.
If the name 'Bates' sounds familiar, it probably is! Ophelia comes from a performing family and her three sisters are all actresses as well! Her youngest sister (Jemma Bates) is rumored to be joining big sis in the Marvel family as Kate Bishop in the upcoming Hawkeye series.
Alongside her career as an actress she is also a full time mom. Bates has a 6 year old daughter, Evelyn Marie, with her ex-husband Ashton Daniels. The two were married when Bates was 19 and divorced a year later when she fell pregnant with their child. While their split was "amicable, necessary, and the best for all parties" according to Ophelia, she says there is no future where the two rekindle their relationship nor does Daniels want/have a relationship with his daughter.
