20th April 2020:
Ever since Venti heard the news, guilt consumed him. Perhaps if he had been more serious about the task at hand and more smart with the way he approached situations, Kaeya would still be here. Now all that was left for him to do was hope that everything would reset again and that he would be given another chance.
Since the dinner party, he hadn't contacted Xiao. It's not particularly that he didn't want to, he just didn't know what to say to him. Besides, it seemed Xiao made no effort to contact him either.
Similarly to the last time loop, as Venti predicted, Bennett and Chongyun left to go to the police station earlier as they were sick of waiting around. That worked out better for Venti though, he needed more time to mentally prepare for what's to come.
Arriving a bit later then last time, he barged into the police station just as the officer was calling them into another room. All eyes turned to him as silence filled the air.
Great, just had to make a grand entrance.
Luckily, the police officer soon cleared his throat gaining everyone's attention, and continued to beckon them to follow him. They entered a familiar, cold room and were seated. Then the police officer resumed to pace back and forth for a few seconds.
Venti didn't know how this was going to go. Last time Xingqiu got accused because he cooked the food, however this time around he didn't cook the food. They got takeout. That's when a realisation hit Venti - what if Venti and Xiao were going to be accused? Since it was those two who were so desperate to get them to change up the menu.
"We finished an autopsy on Kaeya-" The police officer suddenly began, snapping Venti out of his thoughts. "It's suspicious." The police officer continued, which brought about anxious muttering.
"What do you mean - suspicious?" Lumine finally spoke up.
"Kaeya's death wasn't an accident, we assume the wine was poisoned." The police officer announced, eyeing them all as gasps and whispers broke out.
"The wine was poisoned?" Xingqiu said, as he stood up from his seat. "What do you mean the wine was poisoned?"
"And how come only he died? We all drank the wine." Chongyun added in, standing up as well.
"It seems like the murderer had a target, but didn't want too much blood on their hands. They must have put something in Kaeya's drink while he was distracted." The police officer commented thoughtfully.
"Hang on..." Bennett stuttered. "When you came around to give us the wine, Diluc, wasn't the wine already poured out in individual glasses?" This brought about small chatter around the room as the police officer narrowed his eyes at the tall red head.
"You can't be implying what I think you're implying." Diluc stated, sounding confident however there was an evident quiver in his voice.
Before anyone had the chance to say anything more, the police officer spoke up again. "We're going to take everyone in for questioning." He stated, then turned to Diluc. "You're coming in with me."
"W-what?!" Diluc gasped. "This is ridiculous. Firstly, it isn't me. Secondly, are you even allowed to do that?"
"I'm the law, of course I am." The officer grunted, as they came over and handcuffed a very shocked Diluc.
The officer started to drag Diluc out of the room, however unlike last time nobody said anything to help him out. It was just too suspicious.
The authorities then beckoned for everyone else in the room to follow them for questioning, and were given instructions on how the questioning would go.
