Searching for inspiration in all the wrong places

Familiar empty corners filled with foreign faces

Surfacing with nothing left but emptiness

Lack of consistency is to blame

Once again, for these indefinite failures

A numb feeling we’ve grown so accustomed to

I’ve begun to recognize, welcoming the pain

Accumulating so heavy beneath this concealing shell

Which hides and will disguise with each day in your absence

But yet again I will fall, as I fail to compromise
