A shiver ran down Unus's spine. For a brief moment, his vision blacked out, and he grabbed the nearest thing to hold onto. It just so happened to be the sleeve of a nearby scientist, ripping it off in the progress. Annus caught him before he had hit the ground. »Are you alright?« He asked with wide eyes.
»Yeah,« Unus nodded, propping himself up again. »I'm not sure what just happened.«
»It was yet another Convergence,« Da Vinci responded. »A rather strong one, as well. Did you see anything?«
»Just darkness.«
The Ilumni nodded. »I'll have somebody check up on Ethan, just in case. You two should stay in here for the time being.«
»That's like the third time you're trying to keep us in one room,« Annus responded. »Isn't there another way?«
The man nodded and drew some sigils in the air, glowing signs which settled themselves onto their sleeves. They vaguely resembled melting skulls and hands holding up their fingers to V-like signs. »It should make you a lot harder to find,« he explained. »Make sure to notify me if they start glowing.«He left, leaving the door open for them. After a second, almost as if he wanted to make sure he wasn't hear anymore, Unus spoke up. »You saw that too, right?«
»Saw what?«
»The arm of the scientist. It looked like scales.«
Annus raised an eyebrow. »Are you sure? It could have been a rash or something.« Unus vehemently shook his head. »Definitely scales. Something's fishy here.« He nodded towards the door, and peeked outside. »He went that way.«
The two men checked left and right, the coast was clear. They quickly slid out of the room, following the man at the end of the hallway. He made a left turn, but luckily was still in sight when they came to the corner. Something about his walking pattern made Annus uncomfortable. His walk was feathering, bopping up and down while taking big steps. It almost looked as if he was walking on his toes.
They followed him into a dark room, keeping themselves close to the wall. The man, unaware of his company, took off the lab coat which was covering his body all the way down to his feet. Unus had to clench his teeth to not suck in air in surprise. The man stretched, a big scaled tail almost as long as half of his body size, unrolling itself from being tightly wrapped around his body. He straightened it, the tip shaking in the air mere inches away from Unus's body.»You don't have to hide, warmbloods," he said without turning around. His voice was surprisingly gently and rolling. For some reason, Unus had expected him to stretch out the 's' sounds. He couldn't help but wonder if that was racist.
»I don't bite,« the scientist said, turning around to them. »You are the outsiders, right?«
»You're a lizard,« Annus blurted out.
»I'm aware of that. Although my kind prefers the term Saurian,« he extended his clawed hand with a smile. »Can I help you with something?«Annus, still baffled, returned the handshake. »No sorry, we were just surpised that Atlantis has liz... Saurians. Not to be rude or anything, but I alwas thought you guys were just a conspiracy.«
The Saurian laughed, a bubbly noise in the back of his throat. »That's the way it should be. We don't have a lot of contact with warmbloods. So far Atlantis has been the only place to not flip after learning about us.«
»So you had contact to people before?«
»Some. Didn't go well for the most part. Last time we visited one half thought the Facebook guy was one of us, which is a bit offensive in its own right, and the other part called us Argonians.« His tail flicked and he mumbled to himself, »We still don't know what that was about.«
With a wave of his tail, he changed the topic. »Anyways, since you're already here, there's something I wanna show you. You might need it in the future.«
