The summer passed at school had started, it was second semester. My grades were okay, though Haru wasn't doing so well so he would come over and I would help him study. We were both awkward so we barly talked about anything other than school, but I enjoyed just being with him.
"So what's going on in lit?"
"Why don't you know?!"
"Noooo reason."
*sigh* "Your really hopeless haha!"
"Sooo? What's happening in lit.?"
"We are reading the Screwtape letters."
"Hmm okay,"
"Its about a demon named screwtape who is writing to his nephew wormwood and he's writing how to tempt he patient correctly, and in chapter one-"
"You have a beautiful smile" he interrupted.
I blushed instantly. "W-what?!"
"It lights up the room, hehe and your even cuter when you blush"
I didn't have a chance to respond. The grandfather clock chimed which ment it was time for dinner and for Haru to go home. I walked him out to the porch and he kissed my cheek before running off.
Dinner was delicious and shortly after I went to my room to do homework. We still talked over text untill I fell asleep. It was the perfect end to another perfect day. But it was the beginning of the next that was a nightmare.
I woke up at around 1:53am. I opened my eyes slowly to a crackling noise that grew larger every second. I was surrounded by a terrifying bright light.
Fire.
