Police sirens were heard from all around the city.

Flashing red and blue lights shown through apartment windows.

Ambulances, police cars, caution tape, it was all a chaotic mess.

"I....I'm so sorry for your loss miss..." A stranger. Apparently they lived across the hall from me, but I knew nothing about them.

"It must be hard taking in such a tragic event." Again, I have no idea who this person is.

"If you need anything, we're all here for you." Every word from every different person intrigued me. They knew who I was but I had absolutely no idea who they were.

I walked through the halls of the apartment complex. It was completely silent in the building, the only thing you could hear was the faint sounds of sirens a few blocks down.

I live in a large city, lots of people, lots of buildings, you could say this city never sleeps. Since the city is so big, rumors don't get around easily.

Everywhere I went, people mourned the death of them. Now of course, I don't mind that, but they don't REALLY know the person they're faking tears for. It's pathetic honestly.

The incident happened 8 hours ago. A body was found in an alleyway, it traumatized the person who saw it so badly, they took them to therapy.

The body found was my significant other. We were in a serious relationship for at least 3 years, i've never been more exhausted from all of this in my life.

(Flashback)

"Hun, can I talk to you about something?" they asked.

"Of course. What's on your mind?" I replied, leaning towards them.

"If someone were to offer you an extremely large amount of money for killing an innocent person, would you do it?" they questioned

"I'm sorry?"

"You heard me. Would you do it?"

"Are you out of your god damn mind..? Why would I kill an innocent person for my pleasure. Even if it does get me money, there's no reason for me to end a life for it."  I couldn't believe the words I was hearing from their mouth.

"You wouldn't know the person, so why would it matter?"

"Are you crazy?! It would matter completely! Maybe not to you, but to the family of the person you kill! Do you really want to be the fault of that??"

"I don't think you underst-"

"Shut up! What I understand is that you're a fucking psycho! Why would I ever do such a thing??" I was furious, why would they ask me that, and then proceed to defend their point even though I.... never mind.

(End of flashback)

If I can remember, that was the last time i've heard from them before what happened. What a tragedy. These people are spending so much time trying to find out who committed the crime yet, they're not having any luck.

I loved them so much. I simply would do anything for them. I would die for them, there's no words in the world to explain what I'd do for them honestly. Too bad they had to go so soon.....

by my hands. What a shame. Could I care less? Yes. Have I put on these fake tears to hide my identity and happiness? Yes. Do I regret what I did? No. They'll never find out it was me who killed them. I hid all the evidence. I wanted to be the one to kill them, I couldn't let life take them before I could. Someone had to do it, they were a terrible person. And it was so hard putting up the lovey dovey act around them.

Better safe than sorry.
