"Quill, Quill, Cyndaquil." My mother's Cyndaquil cried as it nudged my face.

"I'm up, Blaze I'm up. Haha" I laughed picking up the flaming mouse dog hybrid.

My mother called Blaze back downstairs, meanwhile I was trying to get dressed and look halfway decent. I made my way down to the kitchen, where mom had a big breakfast made and setting everything on the table.

"This looks delicious mom, I'm starving." I said as I managed to avoid tripping over Blaze while putting my jacket on.

"Well of coarse Phoenix, today is the day you begin your journey. Before you leave, son. I have a few gifts for you, and then you can head over to Professor Oak's. He's been waiting to see you." My mother replied.

After breakfast, my mother came in with a box of stuff and set it down on the table. She pulled out a pokéball, of which had a fire symbol etched into it. She then whistled for Blaze, who cheerfully came walking in from the living room. They both looked at me at the same time.

"Phoenix, do you remember when you were about six years old, and I first brought Blaze home? How excited you were. Well, Blaze has been waiting for this day. It's time that Blaze went with you, son. He's been your first pokémon, thirteen years ago, and now it's time for you two to begin your journey."

My mother pressed the pokéball's button and Cyndaquil returned to it's pokéball. Mom then handed it to me, with a tear in her eye and a smile on her face. I placed the pokéball on my belt, and returned with a smile.

"Here, this is the money you've been saving up for the past fourteen years." My mother said, handing me a money clip.

I took the money, there must have been at least $2500-$5000 or more in the clip. I then placed the money in the pocket of my jacket. She then gave me a small box of pokéballs, and told me to choose one from them. One pokéball in particular stood out to me. It had a set of flaming wings etched into it.
I tossed the pokéball into the air. It pops open, and a small red bird appears.

      "Fletch!" It cried cheerfully.

"This Phoenix, is Fletchling." My mother smiled. Placing the small box of pokéballs on the floor. "Go on, give her a name."

"I'll call you, Huntress." I thought for a moment, before speaking.

Fletchling seemed pleased with the name, as she gave a cheerful chirp in response to the name. I held up her pokéball and pressed the button. Fletchling returned to her pokéball without hesitation.  My mother then started nudging me towards the door. She was hesitant about it, but she insisted anyways.

"Now you better get going, you don't wanna keep the professor waiting." She chuckled.
