Prologue

Life in Kirigakure was drastically changing. The Fourth Mizukage had recently passed due to his tailed beast being extracted. Along with him, he took his dreadful reign of terror that haunted the people of the Hidden Mist. The village had gone through a lot of hardship during his rule. Now, with him being gone, it felt like a breath of fresh air. It was as though the villagers had woken up from a long and terrible nightmare.

During Lord Yagura's sovereignty, defection became a regular thing. Many high-level shinobi like a few of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and the six-tails jinchuriki, Utakata, abandoned the village. It was common for comrades to kill each other to graduate from the Kirigakure Academy, but it changed when a shinobi named Zabuza killed his entire class. The village was in pieces. No one could reform the once renowned village that had become known as the Village of the Bloody Mist while under the Fourth Mizukage's reign.

It was rumored that the Fourth Mizukage was being manipulated by the Akatsuki. No one believed that a kind-hearted person like him could become an oppressor.

The past was dark, but now, the Hidden Mist looked forward to a brighter future. Or so they hoped. Under Lady Mei Terumi, the Fifth Mizukage, the villagers saw the light penetrate the mist for the first time. Although the village was grieving his death, they were happy the dark shadow that had cast over the Mist for so long was finally gone.

But the true manipulators, the people who caused great anguish to the Hidden Mist, were still out there. Until the Akatsuki was stopped, the village would always be in danger and would never achieve true peace.
