Unconditionally Chosen

———

The next day of school was a very exciting one for Amy's group because at last, what they've learned will be shown to all. The frightening thing is no one knows if they'll end up being the worst team on the bottom of the list. Amy was too nervous yet excited. She was looking at the bulletin board and felt majorly happy. She was looking at the schedule when Lance yelled, "at last!"

Amy smiled. She felt the meaning of those words from Lance's throat. They heard the heavy footsteps of Tom and William towards them. They looked suspiciously at the two boys for fun.

"What?" William and Tom said in unison.

"Nothing," Lance said.

"Nothing or you two were just having fun on us?" Tom asked.

"Maybe," Lance said, chuckling.

Tom glared at him quickly then pulled the stare back. Amy and William laughed so hard it was heard throughout the hall. Sally walked towards them calmly.

"Hey, can you believe it? It's the last day of training!" Sally reminded.

"No, I can't believe it!" William sarcastically uttered.

Sally rolled her eyes and muttered something cannot be heard. While they are laughing, they saw a girl owning a pinkish white skin with her braided hair swinging as she runs. It's Elise and she's in panic.

"There are Kininvas in the Training Field!" Elise screamed as if she had a panic attack. As they were approaching Elise, they saw General Phillip running to get near them.

"You, tell your classmates to stay in the classroom," General Phillip panted. "There are Kininvas in the Training Field! It won't take long."

"Copy," they said. They find it not too difficult to run to the room. They made the door fly open and said something right away.

"From General Phillip, he said that there's a Kininva in the training field! He said let's stay here for our safety. Even if we want to fight," Amy said.

"How are you sure?" Lauren asked. "How are you sure that this isn't just an obnoxious prank?"

"He told us," Lance said.

"Well, then let us see," Lauren said as the whole class went out to see.

"Wait, hey, don't!" Tom scolded.

They followed their classmates until they reached the Training Field. They saw the generals having a hard time fighting several Kininvas.

The place of generals and Kininvas are in an enormous closed room. The door is locked but Amy and her team hastened to unlock the room. They prepared their weapons and they started to go to their positions.

"Amy, this is loony," General Phillip scolded them. "Get everyone back to their classrooms."

"Sorry, General Phil—" Amy tried to dodge a heavy Kininva away, "—LIP!"

The generals are at the front but the Kininvas threw some of them. One Kininva came near to Amy and grabbed her bow. It's too surprising how Amy was carried by the Kininva and thrown away. Amy stepped back and like magic, she felt the sword's blade underneath her left boot. She tried her best to push the lost bow out of her mind.

Elise was having a good time in offensing. Tom and William kept on shooting from their rifles. Once again, a Kininva tried to throw Amy near to her bow.

"So you want me to be an archer this time, huh?" Amy smirked.

She shot arrows to the Kininvas eagerly and by teamwork, their side finally won. The thrown generals stood up.

"Thanks . . . for helping us," one of the generals said.

All of the trainees from every class was there. All students were gathered in the main lobby of the Training Fields as some of the housekeepers were pulling the broken systems of the Kininvas.

"Good day, students. We're going to announce something," General Phillip said through a microphone, wiping his sweat.

All of the trainees paid attention and listened.

"That was an accident but it was really our plan. We're making fake Kininvas for the selection of groups. Then a virus entered. The fake Kininvas attacked us while preparing it for tomorrow's selection," General Phillip explained.

"The real reason why we made it is because we will choose who will go and fight. It'll represent who are brave enough to be soldiers. After choosing groups that are brave, they'll compete. Since we only have one brave group, they won unconditionally," the general said. "It just happened today instead of tomorrow."

They clapped their hands. Of course, Lauren, she rolled her eyes every time someone cheers loudly. General Phillip called them to follow him to the classroom. They walked from the training field to their room. They entered the room calmly and with exhaustion.

General sat on his chair and said, "take a seat, everyone." General Phillip looked at them and smiled.

"Now, I'm going to resign here at the training school because of you," he confessed. The children were shaking. The reason was incredibly unknown.

"That is because Amy's team will finally be one of us, the Portal Soldiers!" General Phillip finalized. They all smiled at General Phillip.

"I have a question, General, how about your classes?" Amy asked.

"I'll be asking someone to replace me here," he replied.

"Oh, thank you," some mumbled in relief.

"You're always welcome," he said. "Tomorrow, I'll be having the first advanced training for being a Portal Soldier with Amy's team."

They all nodded while smiling as big as a giant. They went to the hall after they're dismissed. Today was the first time Amy's team did not exit the school together. Amy and Lance walked out of the gate where Robert, the loyal guard is.

"Congratulations," Robert waved at them. "I've heard the news. So long!"

"Thank you," they both said, grinning.

As the two went outside the walls of the school, they decided to sit on the brown bench under the shade of a tree. Silence talked longer than ever.

"Hey, it's already late, let's go home," Amy said.

In any way, Lance agreed. It's hard not to notice that some people along the streets looked at them. The two of them walked towards the ceramic looking concrete walls of the palace. The guards let them in as soon as they saw Lance and Amy's silhouettes. They passed through the charmingly cute garden until they are at the front of the main door.

The door opened symmetrically as they walked in. Ellen who stands in her formal brown dress, welcomed them. She led them into the long table with foods only served by the palace on special events.

"Congratulations!" Ellen smiled, still as charming as a lady.

"Thank you, Mom." Amy hugged her loving mother then asked, "By the way, how'd you know that?"

"General Phillip informed me earlier," Ellen explained. "He even said congratulations. I am so proud I can't explain."

Amy smiled and gave her mom a kiss before getting dressed for dinner. The moonlight brilliantly shined at the top of the palace. It lets the whole Kingdom reflect the reflected light.
