*POV-Syrena*
My head was bowed against the wind as I struggled to walk through the snow/ice slush. I was about to fall down when I righted myself against a wall. Ugh, this is why I hate working in the winter. I always have to walk home from the TV studio. I glanced down to check if I was any more soaked and freezing than I was before. Nope. But, before I could look up, a flash of something caught my eye.
It was something huddled down in the alleyway right besides where I was leaning against. I slid along the wall, sort of like a spy would do, and into the alleyway. I walked, or more like staggered, towards the little bundle. I was confused, what was it?
I kneeled down in front of it, but before I could do anything, a little face popped out of the bundle. The face of an adorable little girl. I gasped, how could someone either leave their baby girl out here, in this weather, or lose them, still in this weather!? I gently took hold of her, and brought her close to me.
I tucked her inside my GIANT coat, in the hope of keeping her warm until I got back to my house. I hurried even faster than I was before. I sincerely hoped that the little girl that I held in my arms was warming up.
Once, I got to my home, I almost ran to the front door and quickly unlocked it and walked inside. I was immediately greeted by warm air. I shut the door, locking it, and took off my coat. I set the little girl down on the floor, hung my coat up to dry, then picked her back up again.
I walked into my living room and sat on the couch in front of the fire. I sat the little girl on my lap and started peeling off the soaked layers that she had on. First off was her winter parka, then another, thinner, jacket, after that two sweaters. Then she was in a turtle neck that was relatively dry. I shimmied off her wet snow pants, so now she was in a turtle neck and sweat pants, both more dry then her other clothes.
I slid off her shoes and wet socks then stood up again and placed her back onto the couch. I gathered up all her stuff and brought it over to the grate that was right in front of the fireplace. The grate was something that I used to dry off any wet or damp clothes. Anyways, I hung it all on it to dry off. Then I walked back over to the girl and sat back down, placing her back in my lap.
I wonder who she is, why she was in that alleyway, and who's she is... I thought. I soon realized that both our tummies were grumbling, and I laughed lightly. I stood up, placing the girl on my hip, and strode into my kitchen.
I sat her down on the island right in between the dining table and the kitchen and then went about making a warm soup for the both of us. I started making my original Secret Cheese soup. My mum had helped me make it, before she was diagnosed with leukemia. I started blinking quickly to avoid getting teary, and eventually starting to cry.
After I set the soup to cook, I walked back over to where the little girl was. Wow, I really needed to find out what her name is. I picked her up again and sat down in one of my chairs around my dining table. I set her down in my lap, facing me. I grabbed her hands and started to bounce her up and down. She smiled and giggled.
I smiled at her and opened my mouth to speak.
"Hey there, what's your name little one?" I smiled softly to show that I was not trying to hurt her or anything. She looked at me and giggled.
"Wux." She spoke simply and firmly. I thought about her name for a while. Then questioned her about it.
"Lux? Your name is Lux?" I asked her hesitantly. She giggled again and nodded. I smiled at her.
Hmm... Lux. That's such a pretty name. :) I thought. And yes, yes that smiley face did in fact appear in my head. Yes, yes I am messed up slightly.
DING!
I smiled, that must be the soup. I got up and set Lux on my hip, and then went over to where the soup was cooking. Wow, it feels so much better to call her by her actual name instead of 'her' or 'the little girl'. I set the soup into the fridge to cool and turned the oven off.
After about 10 minutes, I got up and got the soup out of the fridge. It was just steaming slightly, like it was supposed to. I smiled slightly and placed the pot on a mat in the middle of the dining table. I walked back into the living room and picked Lux back up from where she was playing with my old Barbie dolls in front of the fire.
But, before I had gotten Lux, I had set out my old baby high chair. It was still as sturdy as a metal one from a restaurant. My dad had built it for my older brother. My father doesn't talk to me anymore. He never really did like me that much. It was always about Ben.
I sighed and shook my head to get rid of all bad thoughts. I put Lux in the high chair and gave her a little bowl of soup. Since my bowl was hotter, I grabbed Lux's little spoon and scooped some soup onto it. I made sounds like an airplane, that she giggled at, and slowly moved the spoon towards her mouth.
"Open up, let the airplane through." I spoke softly, smiling. I seemed to do that a lot in her presence. Smile. Anyways, Lux ate the spoonful of soup. It seemed that she liked to eat soup that way. So, I fed her that way until her bowl was empty. She burped slightly, then giggled again. I laughed softly and picked her up, brought her back to where my old dolls were, and set her back down to play with them while I ate my soup.
After I had finished my soup I put the rest of it back into the fridge, walked back into the living room and picked up Lux, and walked into my bedroom. I then got dressed into my pjs and put Lux into an old pair of my baby sister's that I had lying around. Then I got into my bed and put Lux into it with me. She almost immediately fell asleep. But, before I could fall asleep also, my phone rang. I picked up.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Syrena, this is Mike, you know, your boss." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Yeah, I know you. What do you need Mike?"
"Okay, this is simple. You have an interview tomorrow for the band One Direction." I nodded along with him as he spoke. If you couldn't tell, I am an interviewer for the popular talk show, "Celebrities? AHHHH" Yeah, it's a weird name. The 'AHHHH' part of where I point to the audience and they scream.
"Okay, that's no problem. When do I have to be there?" I replied. I could sense him rolling his eyes at me so I rolled my eyes also.
"I can sense you rolling your eyes Syrena. And you have to be there at 12:00 PM SHARP. No later... But sooner would be fine also." I rolled my eyes at him and his weirdness. I sighed.
"That's fine."
"Great! See you tomorrow!"
"Bye." I hung up. I then called my mother, who lived a block away from the studio where I worked, to see if she could babysit Lux, while I was at the interview. She agreed after fussing over the fact that I needed her to take care of a baby. I then told her all about how I found Lux, and she stopped and immediately agreed to watch her.
"Thanks Mum, now I'm gonna go to bed. Love you." I said over her ramblings.
"Alright sweetie. Goodnight, love you." She replied. I hung up then lied down under to covers. Lux immediately cuddled up to my side. I curled around her and fell asleep, thinking about the interview I had tomorrow.
