53. The Final Decision

Sadly this is the last chapter of the book :(. More on that at the end of the chapter.

After saying your goodbyes to the Aoba Johsai members, you make your way outside where the karasuno boys were.

They were sitting on the steps, gathered around in a team meeting. After that was over, they went out to eat and most of them cried over the heart breaking lose.

It was tough. Getting so far, working so hard, and then having that all snatched away from you...

The next day was rough too. All the regrets of the games settled in their minds and the third years had to make their decision on whether they'll stay on the team or not. Not to mention, they knew that the final day for qualifiers was today and Aoba Johsai still got to play.

You hoped they stayed. But if they decided to focus on their studies, you would respect that and wish them well.

Around lunch time, you decided to check on everyone. The other second years were all eating lunch together. You didn't know where the third years were so you headed to the gym.

"GRAAAGHHHHHHHH"

"HARHHHHHHHHH"

You paused as you heard yelling and the sound of the people running. You peak your head through the door when it stops, and see Kageyama and Hinata flop to the ground.

"Dammit! I wanna win!"

You frowned.

That's it.

You've made your decision.

You're going to-

"No yelling and shouting at each other," a soft voice says from beside you.

You jolt and look over, relaxing once you realized it was just Kiyoko.

She told the two idiots off and then you joined her as she walked back to class.

"Do you think the third years are going to stay?" You asked, unable to stop thinking about it.

"Hm, i can't say for sure.. it's ultimately up to them. I'll be staying."

You slip your hand into hers. "I'm glad. I'd miss you if you left the team," you smile.

She smiles back. "Really?"

"Mhm hm. Who'd sit with me on the bench," you ruffle her hair.

She giggles. "Idiot."

She laces her fingers with yours and you swing your arms back and forth as you walk her back to class.

You made your way back to class and doodled on a spare piece of paper to pass the time. Afternoon practice couldn't come fast enough..

At your next break, you got up and decided to go speak to them yourself. You weren't going to try to convince them, you just had to know whether or not they were staying.

You found Asahi first, and he seemed a bit surprised to see you.

"Oh- (Y/n)," he cleared his throat and gave you a soft smile. "Anything I can help you with?"

"Asahi.."

"Yeah?"

You grab his hand.

"(Y-Y/n)?"

"Have you decided yet?" You look back at him.

He blushes slightly. "I'm staying," he says.

And he was immediately grateful for it. You smiled and he swore his heart skipped a beat.
