Her fingers traced along the countertop of the compound's kitchen, waiting for the kettle to finish boiling the water inside of it.

Outside, clouds were capturing the entire sky, not allowing a single bit of sunlight to reach earth, causing it to seem... almost deserted. Not a single soul appeared to be around.

Some of the earth's mightiest heroes were still present on the compound's territories, yet lately [Name] had barely been able to catch a glimpse of them.

She grabbed the kettle to pour the now boiling water into a mug already equipped with a tea bag.

To be correct, there had been a certain someone around. And that certain someone had now somehow caught a cold.

[Name] picked up the mug, along with a bottle of cough syrup as well as a book she'd found earlier on Loki Laufeyson's shelf.

Shakespeare. Interesting.

"How do you feel?" she hummed as she entered the room she'd told him to get cosy in. Meanwhile, the raven-haired god was curled up in with a blanket on a couch. His face was tinted even paler as usual, except for his flushed cheeks, and his body temperature was behaving different as well.

"I'll live, huh?" he groaned softly, sitting up straight in order to rub his temples.

"Headaches as well?" A worried expression spread across her features as she kneeled in front of the couch, placing the items she'd brought along with her on a lower table arranged by its side.

Loki only nodded in response, squinting his eyes. [Name] let her fingers rest on his arm for a moment, a compassionate look in her eyes. She sighed before speaking up again, softly.

"See, I haven't got a clue if cough syrup is going to help you a lot, it hasn't been developed for gods, y'know. But I've got you some tea, and a book of yours."

"Didn't know you were into Shakespeare", she added after a moment, causing a rather weak and quickly fading smile to spread across his lips.

Though he'd shown his softer side towards [Name] before, it'd probably always feel unfamiliar to see him sick.

She handed her patient his tea, waiting for him to finish a few careful sips before placing it back on the coffee table. "Would you prefer to rest, or... do anything else?" she suggested, settling down next to him as he carefully made some space by his side.

Loki turned to face the wall in order to not cough into her direction before answering.

"I... might sound ridiculous, but, uh... would you care to... read to me? I fear I'm too tired for... anything else, and your voice is the most appealing distraction to me right now." He slightly nodded into the direction of the book on the coffee table with a reticent smile.

A chuckle escaped her lips as she reached over to it, then getting comfortable herself and opening the page he'd previously stopped reading on.

"Why aren't you beginning on the first page, darling?" her patient mumbled all of a sudden, his eyes now fluttering open again. "This way you'll only know half of the story in the end. Doesn't make any sense, does it?"

The first page was now being flipped open by her before she bent down in order to press a gentle kiss on his forehead, a sheepish smile lingering on her lips. "That was thoughtful, and sweet. Now, snuggle in. And don't you dare try and stay awake if your body's craving some sleep."

And with that, she started to read to her soon asleep lover.
