Chapter 20- Tales From The Darkside Pt1

"Dear town, I have rid this town of the drug dealing child killer and others like him. Now you must choose your fate. The next 48 hours will be a test and I will be watching you very closely. Show me you are pure of heart and my work ends. Continue to sin and I will take up the sword again" Archie reads the note from the Black Hood to me and Veronica. They are sat at the kitchen table while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil to make a coffee before my shift at Pop's
"Well what does he class as sinning? I mean Arch you created the red circle, is that a sin?" I ask worriedly pouring the hot water into a flask
"I don't know Rory" Archie sighs putting the paper down
"I know I don't say this often Arch, but I am actually scared"
"I know"
"I gotta go, but I'll see you guys later" I smile at them both as I put on my coat
"You want us to walk you to Pop's?" Veronica asks
"No I'll be fine. I'll ring you if I need to"
"Ok see you later" Archie hugs me before I leave.

I arrive not much later at Pop's
"Hi Pop" I call as I walk in to see the old man wiping the tables
"Good morning Aurora" I walk behind the counter fixing an apron on. The door dings and a woman walks in wearing leather. She walks over to the counter where I am
"Hi.. Aurora" she looks at my name badge "ahhh so you must be Sweet Pea's girl. Would never have taken him for someone to settle down with one girl, let alone a Northsider" I frown slightly looking at her "anyway, I'll have a breakfast and a coffee, make it quick" with that she turns around and sits in a booth quickly going on her phone and dialling a number. I write down her order and pass it over to a cook in the kitchen. In the meantime I take other peoples orders and clean the tables while I wait for it to be ready
"One breakfast and coffee" the cook shouts. I go over to the food and take it over to this woman
"Will that be all?" I ask the woman
"No, actually. Watch yourself around the Serpents, don't want you getting hurt now do we"
"Is that a threat?" I raise an eyebrow
"Take it how you want, but the Serpents are mine ok?"
"Funny, I thought they were FP's. Listen here, I don't know who you are, so obviously you're not that important or else someone would have told me who you were before I joined. If you came here to threaten me then it won't work"
"I didn't come here for you" the door chimes again, I look up to see Jughead walking over to us
"I came to speak to him, now if you'll excuse us"
"Penny, Rory" Jug acknowledges us
"Do you want anything Jug?" I ask turning my focus on to him
"No I'm good, but thank you"

Pea picks me up after my shift, which isn't very long as I have to get to school
"No bike today?" I ask getting into a truck that I know to be Fangs'
"No, I need to repair one of the tires, but I didn't want you walking around on your own"
"Your sweet" I kiss his cheek and he smiles putting the car into gear
"Hey can I ask you something?"
"Sure whats up"
"Who's Penny?" I notice his hands tighten around the steering wheel
"Why do you ask?"
"She came into Pop's today, knows me as your girl. Started running her mouth about how she's surprised you are sticking to just one girl, especially a Northsider"
"She's a bitch, but she's helpful to have around incase of an emergency. We call her the snake charmer. You don't have doubts about me do you? because I promised I would never hurt you the way Reggie did and I intend to keep that promise for as long as I live" I can hear concern and urgency laced in his voice
"I know, it just felt like she was threatening me more than anything like to keep away from you guys"
"Don't worry, she can't do anything to you, none of the Serpents can, or even want to. I love you"
"I Love you too"
