Chapter 4: Oh brother join us

Edith's little brother Sam was on the highway looting valubles from the inside of cars for good stuff he might like, he was browsing the inside of a car and in the passenger seat there was a person that was dead sitting there all red with it's eyeballs popped out of its sockets.

He saw a diamond ring on the dead person's finger and decided to loot it because he liked it and they weren't gonna need it after all.

Sam put his hand on the dead persons hand and carefully slid the ring off of it's finger and the dead person felt Sam taking the ring off and woke up and growled, Sam saw it's yellow eyes and slid his hand away quickly in fear and slammed the car door on his hand trapping the dead person's arm in the car door.

Sam screamed and infected heard Sam's screams of fear and they walked towards his location.

Sam didn't know what to do he was a coward and a wimp and he wouldn't hurt a fly and was anxious by how his family and the people on the street were aggressive and infected he didn't like seeing everyday people like this and didn't want to be brought up in a world were people would attack it was just horrifying for him.

Sam didn't know combat like Edith.

Sam sat on the ledge of the interstate and looked down to the ground at all the wrecked cars and held his knees hoping the infected wouldn't get him and by some sort of luck he'd survive.

Edith and Lyle made it to the highway and saw tons of cars on the road Lyle thought this was perfect for looting. They needed to loot anything they could find.

They went along the cars and opened the doors one by one reaching into the interior and opening the glove box for mints, maps, bottles of water and anything they could grab and put in there bag.

Lyle saw Sam in the distance sitting on the ledge and they saw infected coming wards him and he was sat there doing nothing Edith knew he was obviously scared.

Lyle asked who is that person and Edith looked and said it was her brother and they needed to help him.

The infected stumbled towards Sam and grabbed his back pulling him closer to them and ready to bite his neck.

As the infected got close to biting Sam an arrow shot in the infected person's forehead and it fell over on the road, Sam turned round and saw Edith and Lyle and smiled and pointed at more infected coming towards him.

Edith put a thumb up and smiled and slung a coin in her slingshot at the infected and an arrow shot in the eye of the one next to it and they fell to the ground at the same time.

Sam thanked Edith for saving him and asked who the scruffy guy was, Edith said that was Lyle a military man that was helping her get to the city to find John's dentistry and get her braces off.

Sam looked at her and asked why take them off? He thought the braces were so cool and asked to not take them off.

Edith said she had to and said she thought they made her feel ugly so getting them off was there mission and asked Sam to join them.

Sam shrugged in sadness knowing she wanted her braces off but had to join because she was his sister and he knew she would protect him if something happened.

Lyle interrupted and asked Sam why he didn't do anything as the infected were coming, Sam explained he had bad ears and couldn't hear them and also he explained he couldn't fight as well as Edith knew how to.

Lyle said he'll train Sam to be a badass like Edith because they'll need his help when they enter the city it wasn't going to be easy.

Lyle said he'd train Sam now and Edith told Lyle no they can't waste any time because Doctor John could get eaten if they waited and Edith wanted to see him now.

Lyle said to Edith they need all the help they can get and to give him a minute.

Lyle asked Edith if he could borrow her slingshot and Edith took her head and said no.

Lyle got his bow out from his back and gave it to Sam, Sam and Lyle saw some infected coming and Lyle moved Sam's arm at one of the infected heads and ordered him to pull the trigger.

Sam squeezed the trigger and an arrow shot into the infecteds eyebrow and fell to the floor Lyle told Sam well done and now it was time to try a pistol, he pulled a pistol from his holster and explained to Sam he used to be in the military but he got sent on leave before it all started and was going to give the pistol to his son when he got back home but it was to late when he got back because before he got home his son and wife were infected and said the Pistol was now his because Sam reminded him so much of his son.

Sam said thank you and Lyle said it wasn't a problem it was time to move him up a level and train him to use a pistol.

Lyle moved Sam's arm at another infected and told him to squeeze the trigger and Sam pressed it down his hands where shaking and it made a loud bang startling him.

The bullet hit a infected and Sam jumped backwards in fright and covered his ears with his hands.

Sam holstered the pistol in his jean pocket and Lyle said he did well but will get better the more he uses it and if he doesn't get better at it they'll have to use another skill of Sam's whatever else he maybe good at.

Edith said it was time to enter the city and to check if they had everything they needed, Sam and Lyle said yes symaltaniously and there was no need to check they had everything they needed, it was now time to venture into the city.
