"I WANT SOME ANSWERS!" Dave insisted. "Shhh" jack shushed him as they entered the backstage of Irvine Hall.
"Who is he and why was he chasing you, and what is this refuge?" Dave demanded once again for answers.
"Refuge is this jail for kids" jack leant against the railing on the stairs, "the guy chasin' me is Snyder. He's the warden."
"You were in jail?" Les looked up at jack like he was the coolest person in the world. "Yeah" "why?" Les questioned.
"Well, I was starving so I stole some food." He replied. "Right, food." David rolled his eyes. "Yeah, food."
"What the hell be quiet-" Eleanor walked through into the backstage, stopping when she saw Jack.
"Ah, just the girl I was lookin' for. Apart from your mother of course" Jack ignored Dave's questions and walked over to the blonde girl.
"Cowboy" she finally got to hug him again, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. Jack hugged her back, letting go after a few seconds.
"Youse look like youse were runnin'. Who from?" Eleanor looked over at Les and David.
"Warden Snyder." Jack rolled his eyes dramatically. "Call you Sullivan again?" She looked up at him. "Mhhhm" he replied.
Eleanor was the only person who knew Jack Kelly wasn't his real name. He had told her when they were 13 and 14. She knew he was born Francis Sullivan but didn't give a care for what his name was.
"What is going on there? Out, out, out." A lady with red hair and a bright purple dress walked down the small set of stairs.
"You wouldn't kick me out without a kiss goodbye, would you, Medda?" Jack stood at the bottom of the stairs.
"Jack that's my momma, don't say that" Eleanor shook her head. "Ohhh, Kelly. Where you been kid? I missed seeing you an' Ellie up on the balcony dancing to my songs."
"Momma don't try stealin' my best friend now okay? You've got a show to put on" the blonde sixteen year old stood behind Les, her hands on his shoulders.
"Medda, this is David and Les. And this is the greatest star of the vaudeville stage today. Miss Medda Larkson, the Swedish meadowlark." Jack introduced the two boys.
