The Odd One (One Shot Story)

According to the urban myths, if you love going out at night, always stay in a group and in an even number or else, one will get taken away by 'engkantos' to make the group even.It was a after graduation day when a group of teens decided to celebrate. The party was fun with booze and all and everyone was enjyoing too much that they never noticed that it was already near midnight. Since its getting late, four of them , Tin, Josh, Lyn and Famm decided to stay as they could no longer go home on their own while the other two, Gelo and Jas decided to take their leave.On their way home, they almost got into an accident as they tried to dodge a black cat trying to cross the road. They stopped at the middle of the road to find out that the cat was wounded. Gelo stopped Jas from taking the cat home but Jas was too stubborn to listen to him. Fast forward its been a week and there were numerous reports of missing persons and murders that's been circulating around the town. Reports show that the dead bodies found have similar expressions on their face, as if they were reaching out something with their eyes wide open.The group friends were also bothered as Jas stopped going out with them and would rather stay inside their house. One of their friends Gelo, were also reported missing for a week and ever since that day, the group noticed that Jas have been acting strange since she was the last person seen with him together. The rest of the group were also trying to find out where their friend could possibly be. They were on the same bar as usual Tin , Josh and Famm were together while Lyn went outside to bought some cigs. She lit up a stick and saw someone from a far and heard a voice calling out her name. She was creeped out so she decided to go back with the group and told them about it. Josh just laughed at her and said she's just drunk. A little later, they decided to go home and Josh just went out on his own even though Fam and Tin insisted that they should be together as a group. Another week passed and just like that, 2 of them were already missing, Tin and Josh. Famm and Lyn decided to go to Jas' house to confront her and they decided to meet indoors at Famm's house. Famm and Lyn were waiting and unexpectedly Jas accepted their invite but they noticed that she brought a black cat with her. Lyn got creeped out about it and said that black cats are sign of bad luck. Jas didn't mind her and said that its not a bad luck but it was her guardian angel. They were in the living room watching the news about another case of murder in their town. "Murders had been a lot recently huh?" a mans voice said that startled the three. It was Famm's father. "I think we should go home, I don't want to get in trouble when the night comes." Jas said. Tin agreed and decided to bid their goodbyes. The tv news was still on and the victim who managed to escape explained what the murderer looked like. "They had a scar on their left wrist." The victim said.Famm slowly looked over her father. He was watching intensely with his arms crossed. She stared at him for a moment but he didn't say anything. After few seconds, she calmly looked away. Then pulled down her long sleeve shirt, hiding her scar.It was her, she went out that night to buy something in the 24 hour store , making her the odd number in the group.
