(The Gray Garden x Haikyuu)
Kageyama remembers her past life very clearly. Angels, demons, magic, other worlds, a war with the Flame World... Yeah, how can she forget all of that pain? The pain of losing the ones she loves, and then waking up as a b...
Aaaaah, the weekend. What a great time to relax, have fun with your friends, enjoy watching movies with your loved ones... There's a lot of great things to do.
Investigating an assault and studying for an entrance exam because you're transferring to a prestigious school are not. But here were Kageyama and Kurai, working their asses off. Since Kageyama could barely leave her house because of how busy she was, she asked Kurai to take over the investigation for her, to which he accepted. After all, he was a Heikin in the Investigation and Spying Department of his world. "Did you manage to enter the Flame World?" she asked. Much to her dismay, Kurai shook his head.
"No. It's like there was an invisible force blocking the way." he explained, laying his head on his arms. Kageyama sighed in annoyance.
"Seems like they're taking precautions, unlike last time." she mumbled, still focused on taking notes. 'Seriously, who puts a hole in the middle of nowhere...' she thought, sweatdropping. The crow looked at her.

And that's when he realized something she said. Last time. Which implied something. "Last time? Have you fought them before?" the shifter asked, looking at the setter.
"Yeah. Before I got reincarnated, I was an angel who went by the name 'Froze'. Our world got invaded by the Flame World, hence to why I believe it's them who are behind this. We did manage to defeat them, but we almost lost the two people who looked over our world. Thankfully, we saved them in time." she explained. Kurai looked at her with sparkly eyes.
"That's so cool! I bet that you were super strong!" he gawked, bouncing up and down. Kageyama just averted her eyes away, slightly embarrassed.
"Not really. I was just a simple healer, nothing else." she shrugged, looking at her notes before proceeding to start memorizing all of this. Being born with an eidetic memory really helped her a lot. She just faked being dumb because that's what she seemed to be. Most people who knew her thought of her as a volleyball enthusiastic who only thought of volleyball, and nothing else. And that's what she made them think. Although, she did nail the mid-terms, she failed Modern Japanese on purpose because she knew Hinata was going to fail at least one. So she decided to fail so that he wouldn't be alone.
Now, a lot of you would ask the question. Why fail to keep him company? She could have just passed, go to the camp a day earlier and brag to Hinata about how strong players they got to play against, and how many cool people there were. Well, my dear readers, I'll give you probably the simplest and most boring answer. Some of you may like it, some of you may not. What matters is that your question will be answered.
She liked Hinata. Just to put it simply, she had a crush on him. And since she knew he was going to fail, she decided to fail with him so she could be with him and he could grow closer. Hinata reminded her so much of Yosafire it was scary. Was that why she grew so attached to him? She didn't know. "Hey Touko-san, you look tired. Maybe you should get some rest." Kurai adviced. She flinched, having been too lost in her own thoughts.
"No, I'm perfectly fine Kurai." she shook it off. The shifter looked at her with worry. She was obviously not okay.
"How about we go out and have something to eat? That should clear your mind." he suggested. Kageyama looked at him in surprise. But he had a point. She needed to go out, have fresh air, get her mind clear. She closed her notebook, and got up. She looked at herself in the small mirror of the room. Her hair was a mess, her skin looked paler than before, and she had some marked eyebags below her eyes. But what she noticed was that her eyes got a bit duller. She slightly shivered. She didn't know why that happened, but she guessed that it was due to the lack of sleep. She shook her head. She had to change, because she was still in her pajamas.

"Are you seriously?" Kurai deadpanned, which made Kageyama look at him, confused "I mean, it's not bad. It just... It kinda makes you look a bit emo." he admitted. The setter looked at herself. She was very comfortable with what she wore. She didn't mind what people thought about her taste in clothing, to be honest. What she did care was what people thought of her, not for her past, but for her personality.
"I feel quite comfortable." she only said. Kurai just sighed before shifting into his crow form. He landed right on her hat. She smiled before she styled her hair in a low ponytail that fell down her shoulder. Putting everything back, she started walking to the door of her room. That was until she glanced at herself in the mirror. She saw a reflection of her old self, who nodded at her. Her lip quirked upwards for a bit before she went back to her calm face.
