Choi Yeonjun woke up from his dream, still in a haze from the remnants of the foggy imaginary land he had just escaped from.

And then he noticed the change— the change in the weight on his head.

His antlers had grown.

Before, they were merely spikes on his head, incapable of causing anything other than a slight fear that someone would find out and hate him.

But now.

Now they were the size of a maturing fawn's.

Gingerly, he reached up to feel how much they had grown.

A lot more than he expected.

He climbed out of bed to look at himself properly in the mirror.

He didn't see what he saw last night.

He saw a monster, instead of a boy.

Tugging at his antlers, trying to break them off, to appear normal.

"Oh my god. Horns on my head."

The lamp flickered on and off.

Yeonjun collapsed to the floor, hoping against hope that all this was a dream, that everything would be normal when he woke up, that his horns would never grow.

But what had happened had indeed happened.

Time could not be turned back.

He clambered back into bed, dove under the sheets and curled into a tight, enclosed ball, protected by the layers of cloth around him, wishing that he would never need to come out, back into the world of horrors and fear and injustice and pain.

The boy decided to flee deep into a forest in fear of becoming a monster.

Choi Yeonjun ran away from his home, into a forest of fear, to protect his old friends who were no longer with him.

Using a stick on a skull as a torch, he advanced into the darkness.

Into the forest filled with ghostly pale trees, skeletons sitting where the shadows they should have cast. The purple ground, home to the unkempt bushes and leaves and bones, clumped around the base of the trees. The occasional hoot of an owl.

The lone figure of Yeonjun moving cautiously through the woods. Jumping at every crackle of lighting, every clap of thunder.

Holding up the makeshift torch, looking around for any sign of danger.
