Maks pov
My name is Makenzy or Mak. My mommy and daddy went to heaven like a year ago. I still feel sad sometimes but Mrs.Hathaway says someone will take me out of here someday. And if not she will always love me. I'm 4 but I will be 5 soon. I never had a birthday without mommy and daddy so I am scared but I think it will be ok. Everyone here is nice except a girl named Micky she always hits me. I dont like it here although some of the girls are really nice. Like Chloe she likes to braid my red curls and put them in pigtails. Sometimes she even lets me have her dessert. Chloe is 16 she can almost leave. Mrs. Hathaway says we have to be 18 to leave unless someone takes us. But they only take the babies because they are little like Aubrey. She left last month. I think she's happy in her new home. Even though I am jealous I am super happy for her. Shes lucky and hopefully I will too. "Mak,Mak honey come here sweetheart." I hears Mrs. Hathaway coming upstairs. She walked in the room with a big smile. "Babygirl someone wants to meet you."
Linda Johnsons pov
Luke and I pulled up at the big Victorian home for girls. We decided to adopt a little girl. We dont want a baby though we want a bit of an older child ages 3-5. A middle aged polite lady answered the door. The fragile silence that swept over the home made me feel calm and scared at the same time. I knew that this building was full of polite and respectful young ladies. That would make our choice even harder. Although deep inside I know we will make the right choice.
After reviewing a few of the girls files and we decided to meet one of the little girls. She had lost her parents in a fire almost a year ago. Her name is Makenzy she has gorgeous red curls. And shes four years old going on five in a few weeks. The caretaker of the girls, Mrs. Hathaway went to go get her. We wait at the bottom of the stairs. Anxiety and nerves turn up my belly but as soon as the little pitter patter of bare feet come running it all goes away. And thats when I know that shes the one shes the one that we need to complete our family.
