Toby's POV.....
A lot of the single ladies in the locker room had messaged me on social media, apparently looking for me, wanting to thank me for 'opening the old man's eyes'. But right now, I felt like I didn't need that kind of attention so instead of being in my room, where everyone would think I'd be, I was sitting in a café about 2 blocks away, sipping on some coffee, staring into the night sky.
Even though I thought I was alone, I looked to my right to see a head of orange hair, and saw Rebecca standing there.
"Hey, lad, you mind?" she asked, pointing to the chair next to me.
I nodded, and she sat in the chair next to me. I noticed she had a pretty large bruise on her forehead, but as she noticed that I saw it, she tried to cover it up with her hair, but I stopped her and pushed her hair aside, looking closer at her head.
"Bex, who did this to you?" I asked her.
She exhaled deeply and shed a single tear.
"Mercedes, by throwing me into a wall," she replied.
My eyes widened in shock, but she added, "That was after I slapped Pam, and Ashley punched Mercedes in the stomach."
Now, I was shocked and confused, so I asked, "Now, what exactly could cause the four of you to do that to each other?"
Becky sighed and said, "Not what. Who. We made a very shocking discovery. We all have feelings for the same lad."
I raised an eyebrow at that statement. "Huh, interesting. So you were all fighting over who you think he'd pick as a girlfriend?"
He nodded shamefully, and cried a little more. "I hate that I'm fighting with them over something as stupid as this. But.... this guy is just so sweet and kind, and I just need someone like that in my life."
I wrapped my arm around her shoulder and let her cry into mine. I knew how difficult of a situation this was for her, so I felt comforting her would be the best solution.
"Hey, look at me, okay?" I said.
Red-eyed and slightly shaky, she looked up to me and I said, "Look, what you've gotta do is go find them and apologize for hurting them, okay? I know that's gonna be hard, but the end of your friendship isn't worth one guy."
She nodded, and I added, "Although, I do slightly respect what you did. You're willing to fight for what you want. That's a respectable quality you shouldn't be ashamed of."
Becky smiled a little and said, "Thank you, Toby. You're right."
We both stood up to head back to the hotel and she hugged me. We walked back to the hotel and I saw Becky off on her floor. When I got to mine, I saw Mercy pacing back and forth in the hallway, looking really worried.
Concerned, I walked up to her and said, "Hey, uh, you okay, Mercy?"
She looked up and saw me, saying, "Toby. Thank god. You're the guy I needed to see right now. Have you seen Rebecca at all?"
There was definitely an element of panic in her voice, so I replied, "If this is about the massive fight between you, Pam, Ash and her, she's already told me about all of it."
She sighed in slight shame and sat down, leaning against the wall. I sat down beside her and she leaned against me.
"So....this guy must really mean a lot to you guys, huh?" I asked her.
She nodded and said, "I feel so bad about hurting Becky and the others, but.... I just can't talk to them right now, not in this headspace," she told me.
