What Now?

After we had all our deceased group members in the ground and all the other walkers burned everyone just sat around or walked around looking lost.

"I'm going to go with Shane. Lisa you stay here with dad," I said.

"Be careful. I just got you back," dad smiled.

I smiled," I'll be okay, I'm going  with Shane. I'll be right back."

"Alright, I love you," dad smiled and kissed my forehead.

"I love you too," I smiled and kissed his cheek, then I walked over to Shane.

Shane and I got all the way down to the Quarry hand and hand  before either one of us said a word, "I'm really glad you're here," Shane smiled and squeezed my hand.

"Me too," I smiled then kissed him, "what did you want to talk about?"

He kissed me hard one last time before he started talking, "when I thought you were dead I had a thing going on with your mom. She knows about us too, now we can tell your dad. I just thought you were gone and I'm glad you're not. Baby, I'm so sorry."

"Are you fucking kidding me? I can't believe you. First, you tell my mom about us, then you tell me that you had an affair with my mom! Do you honestly expect us to stay together after that?" I asked.

"You would've done the same thing if you thought I was dead."

"No, I would've waited months maybe even years, not days or weeks, Shane. I'm going back to the camp, and we're seriously done!" I said. I pushed pasted Shane and headed back to the camp. Shane looked hurt, but I didn't care. I walked into the woods just a little ways to calm down before I went back.

By the time I started to head back to camp I was crying, not because I was sad, but because I was mad. Daryl was going into the woods and saw my first, "what's wrong?" he asked stopping me at the wood line where the people back at camp could see you.

"Just called it off with Shane, he cheated, not that I guess I should really let that bother me now that the world is ending and all, but I still called it off. Why do you even care?" I asked. I hadn't expected him, of all people, to wrap his arms around me and on impulse I wrapped mine around him. Shane walked past us and I saw the 2 exchange nasty looks, "where are you sneaking off too, Mr. Dixon?"

                    "Hunting, want to tag along?"

"Sure. Shane, tell dad I went with Daryl, and tell Lisa to stay put."

"Sure," he answered and glared at Daryl one last time before walking, or more stomping, the rest of the way to camp.

"You got a jacket or something?" Daryl asked.

"No, I left it all back in Atlanta."

"Then we won't stay out all night, but it'll be pretty late. That okay?"

                    "Yeah," I smiled.

When we started out all I had was the 9 mm. Daryl handed me his crossbow and taught me how to shoot, "hold it like this," he said standing behind me, "now just pull the trigger," I did and hit a tree, "you should feel pretty special," he chuckled as he pulled the arrow from the tree.

                 "Why?" I asked.

"I didn't even let my brother touch this thing, let alone any girl."

"Awe, that's sweet. I mean letting me handle your bow, that's got to be a pretty big step for you and I, Dixon," I winked at him. He smiled at the ground a bit.

During the rest of the hunt I caught Daryl watching me a little bit. Once it got pretty late and we hadn't seen anything we decided to head back to camp. When we got back dad, mom, Shane, and Lisa were still awake and Dale was on top of the R.V. keeping watch, "we're back," I said. Dad shot me a glare, so I went and sat between mom and Lisa while Daryl stood behind me.

"were you with Shane?" Dad asked, I glanced at mom since she knew.

"Yeah, but not anymore, so it's cool," I answered and shrugged my shoulders.

"No, honey, it isn't. You don't understand, it's illegal and Shane could have lost his job!"

"Dad, since when do rules apply in this world? I was 18 at the very end and it's not like you could have really stopped us, we were going to tell you. We're not together anymore!"

"Did you sleep with him?" Dad asked.

"Rick, you don't want to know," mom said.

                    "Yes, Lori, I do."

"No, Rick, you don't," Shane said.

"You need to be quiet," dad said pointing at him.

"Yes, okay? We were safe I checked. We're not together anymore. It wasn't working out," I stressed. Daryl and dad exchanged looks and then Daryl shot Shane a nasty look. I was way to mad at my parents, mainly my mom for sleeping with Shane, to share a tent with with them, so I choose an empty tent and Daryl helped me move said tent away from Shane and closer to his. Dad was more pissed at Shane then he was me.

Dad and Shane were both on watch that night. I couldn't sleep so I waited for Lisa to fall asleep and crawled on top of the R.V. with them, I sat on dad's lap and listened to dad as he said, "I think we should try for the CDC."

"It sounds like a bad idea, Rick," Shane sighed.

"I think it sounds like a good idea," I said.

"Okay, we'll leave in a couple days," Shane said. Dad glanced at Shane then at me, I just rolled my eyes.

The next morning Shane announced to us all about leaving. The rest of the day flew by pretty fast.

On the morning of us leaving Morales and his wife alone with their kids decided to go back to where they came from. Dad gave them a gun and some ammo. Daryl rolled his eyes and got in his truck, Lisa and I got in the passenger seat, when Shane shot us a nasty look.

Daryl turned towards me and said, "if you're playing me to get to him, find another monkey. I don't like him already and I ain't playing your games."

"I'm not, maybe I actually like you and want to be around you, Daryl Dixon," I smirked.

"Whatever, girl. I find out otherwise I'll never trust you again."

"Deal, but I'm not a girl. In this world I'm a woman. I've killed at least 30 walkers, plus the only female who really knows how to shoot a gun, and about to help raise a baby," I smiled at Lisa.

                    "Alright, I see your point."

We talked a lot more about random things. He told me about his brother, Merle, and how he was always left alone when growing up. The conversation could have gone on for hours, but we ended up at the CDC before nightfall. No one answered until we were about to leave and dad was screaming, "you're killing us!" At the camera. Just as Shane and I got dad pulled off of the doors....they opened.
