The spatter of snowflakes is a magical expression that imprisons wonderment. My entire life I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a snowflake. So absurd, yet the idea of individuality has always been lacking for me. What does it feel like when you know that no matter what; you are one of a kind? I write down everything about how I feel in my one trusty diary. It holds all of my deepest, darkest secrets.
“Annabelle, you okay?” My best friend Ashley woke me up from my daydream. Ashley and I have been friends ever since the first day of junior high and we’ve ruled the school ever since. You could even take it one step further and even say that we ruled the town. Not like it’s that hard to do, I mean East Setauket is literally a village. I swept my blonde hair up into a ponytail and nodded. I just need to write in my diary and then it’ll all be better.
“Yeah, I just need to write a little bit.”
“Ew, why are you always writing in that ratty old book?” She won’t understand.
“It’s just a nice way to let out my feelings” I open my bag and reach into the familiar pocket where I keep the diary only to find it empty. Opening the bag wider, I look in only to see that there is no book. Oh no. This is not good. No one can read that diary that would end badly. Please be in here.
“Ashley, have you seen my book? I can’t find it anywhere.” Please have it, don’t look at it, just have it.
“No, you barely even let me look at it from a mile away, why would I have it?”
Crap.
I need to find that diary before the wrong person gets their hand on it. Think back; what class did I have last? AP Chemistry.
“Ashley, I gotta go check that I didn’t forget it in the Chemistry classroom. I’ll see you in English.” Before she had the time to reply, I was running out of the cafeteria towards the staircase. Racing up, I heard someone call my name from behind me.
“Rossim. You dropped this in Chemistry.”
Of course.
Collin Hart is the person to find my diary.
Why couldn’t have been literally anyone else?
Wait. Did he read it?
“Rossim? Hello? Take your book.”
“Thanks.”
Thank goodness, seems like I’m in the clear.

“I can’t believe that in two months we’re starting our last year of high school!” Ashley told me.
“Yeah, it’s crazy.” I reply sarcastically. I mean the past two years have gone by agonizingly slow and I just can’t wait to be done.
“Okay, Belle I’ve thought a lot about this summer and I realized that we’re going to have the best time ever. We can just go to the mall and hang out or shop every day. Then maybe like once we could even go into the city and spend the day at Times Square or something. Oh my God, this is going to be the best summer ever!” First of all, my name is Annabelle, not Belle. Second of all, that all sounds terrible. Argh, why can’t I have the courage to tell her anything? So I just smile and nod.
“That sounds perfect.”
“Okay, great. I have to take care of my little sister when my parents are at work but she can just tag along.” Great. Now a 2 year old is going to be following us around town doing who knows what.
“That’s fine. Do you know where Jen and Ellie are? I need to wish them a good summer before they leave to the Hamptons.”
“Yeah, I saw them walking down to their lockers. They’ll probably come here after anyways though.” That’s a good point. I mean, they can barely walk five minutes without needing someone to lean on.
Less than a minute later, Jen and Ellie came skipping towards us.
“Hey girls! Do you want to go to the beach?” Jen asked me. I don’t think I can handle this, I just want to go home and take a nap. Maybe watch Friends.
“Can’t we just meet up tomorrow instead? My dad wanted to go out to dinner.” Ashley said. Here’s my moment;
“Yeah, I need to catch up on my beauty sleep.”
“Oh, okay. See you tomorrow!”
☆゜・。。・゜☆゜・。。・゜☆゜・。。・゜☆゜・。。・゜☆
Walking home was a bittersweet moment, I don’t know what’s going to happen this summer and I don’t think I can handle 2 months of the mall. I mean don’t get me wrong, new clothes are nice but the company gets annoying. Maybe I could leave and just reappear the day before school starts again. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan.
“Annabelle.” Oh no. Collin Hart. Since he stays so isolated I forgot how attractive he really was. Like damn. No, Annabelle focus. This cannot end well. I mean he read my diary and knows everything. Crap. Stay calm Annabelle. It was your own private property; you have the right to be mad at him.
“What?” Collin flinched at my harsh tone before recomposing himself and walking towards me.
“We need to talk. I accidently read a page of your book.” Would you look at that? I can literally see my doom approaching at lightning speed.
“How do you accidently read a diary? Either you read it or you don’t.” I cannot believe this guy. He has the audacity to claim it to be an accident.
“Okay, I just didn’t realize it was a diary and then I just couldn’t help myself. You can’t blame me, I mean if you found this random book, would you read it?” Good point. Curiosity killed the cat.
“Fine. What do you want? Can’t we just imagine nothing ever happened? Move on?” Please say yes. Please.
“No.” Well fudge.
“I’m going to show you what you’re missing.”
This is going to be fun.
Not.

Author’s Note:
Hey, so I hope you like this chapter. If you’ve read Chasing Life then you might recognize that it’s actually the same town name. That’s for two reasons; I like to imagine that it’s the same universe and also it’s my hometown.
Personally, I picture a young Carrie Underwood as Annabelle. So the picture on the side is her, but just imagine younger (Like 18 years old). Also, for the role of Collin; I picture Alex Pettyfer but with brown hair. I'll put a picture in the next chapter. For Ashley's character, also imagine her younger than she is now. Otherwise, just let your imagination run wild and make the characters look like you want them to.
I’m going to try and update regularly but I’m really busy with my IB work; studying for exams and everything so just bear with me.
