Chapter 43

Michelle's P.O.V

"This is Michelle, she's my friend." Robert says introducing me to another stranger since we got in. "It's nice to meet you." I tell her forcing another smile to another stranger.

Right now I'm in this crowded place with faces I have never seen before and time seems to be frozen somehow. I'm terrified and afraid trying to believe the fact that only minutes ago someone pointed his gun at me. It's so scary that I can feel fear running in my veins. My hands are so cold and I'm shivering even though it's warm in this fancy glass house.

Robert's phone rings interrupting my thoughts while he was talking to this old woman. "Excuse me." He says leaving me with the old woman.

I watch him talk on the phone for a few seconds before coming back. "It's for you." He says and continues talking to the woman.

"Hello?" I say once I take the phone from him. "Michelle, are you okay?" He asks and my heart jumps once I hear his voice.

"Josh, where are you?" I ask him taking a few steps away from Robert. "Meet me outside in 5 minutes. I'm on my way to you." He softly tells me and his voice fills me with relief.

"Okay." I tell him nodding and hang up.

"Thank you so much Robert." I say giving him his phone back once I reach him. "Was it Josh?" He asks and I nod. "I'll be right back." I tell him and the woman before going outside which is very cold since it's December. And I probably shouldn't have gone outside immediately since it was very warm inside and I'm not wearing a jacket.

I go to where the cars are parked and wait for him. Waiting here outside in the cold is much better than pretending to be someone you're not inside there.

I don't know if I'm going to tell him or not even though I really want to because I'm terrified and scared. But for the sake of everyone's safety I mustn't.

I see his car after a few minutes which felt like hours. He parks it in front of the house before getting out of it.

"Hey." I say rushing to him and hugging him tightly placing my arms around his waist and even with high heels he's still taller than me. Relief and comfort replace the fear that filled me once I see him.

"Michelle, are you okay?" He asks pulling me away from him forcing me to face him. "Yeah." I lie to him

"You're shivering." He says taking off his leather jacket and placing it on my shoulders.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He asks again eyeing me carefully. "Josh, please let's get out of here." I say looking at the ground and he nods opening the car's door for me to get in and wait for him to get in too.

He turns on the heater once he gets in and then starts the car. "Here's your phone." He says handing it to me.

"I changed your phone number if anything happens tell me." He says keeping his eyes on the road and I nod turning it on.

I hate this, I hate hiding things from him.

"Are you still cold?" He says taking his hand in mine." No." I answer him and I can feel my cheeks blushing even after all this time of knowing him.

"Josh." I call his name after a few minutes of silence. "Yeah?" He answers looking at me then back at the road.

"I know you will always protect me but what about the people around me?" I ask looking at our hands that are still tied together.

"Okay enough of this. Tell me what's wrong?" He says parking the car in a dark road letting go of my hand.

"Josh it's too dark in here." I tell him making sure if it's even allowed to park in here.

"Then tell me what's wrong." He softly orders looking at me. "It's nothing." I tell him. "You can lie to everyone but me. I know you too well." He says looking away from me and starts the car once again.

"Okay." I softly say resting my head on the window
