I watch as the teenagers break in to the Asylum. The rising moon shines through broken windows illuminating the abandoned hallways. A lonely stretcher resides in a corner and I frown. The bobbing beams of flashlights fill the hallway. They blind my dim eyes and I scurry behind a doorway, my aura trailing behind.
They were talking loudly, laughing every once in a while. I listen to the music that is the Livings' conversation. Oh I have never heard such beauty, except on the rare occasions when others visit!
But wait...
"This place is pretty scary, Owen." A girl flips her golden hair. I always longed for long thick hair like that, but mine wasn't every close, thin instead of thick, scraggly rather than wavy, dark compared to blonde. I want to dash out and grab a large chunk of her hair, though it would be quite unlady-like.
"It's okay, baby." He reassures the girl and as a safety measure, I suppose, he kisses her. I bite my lower lip.
How dare they saunter into this place of death only to flaunt their life and youth! Are people my age really like that now?
"Cut it out, let's just get to the Nurse's Room already!" another girl snaps, stepping out from the shadows.
I freeze in my spot and flicker, just for a second. They were right next to my door, and it seems like they were startled.
"What was that, Michelle?," the blonde shrieks and holds onto her friend.
"Oh relax Jenny, it's just light from the moon or something."
"Was it the Nurse?" The boy tenses as he peers into the room opposite to mine. There was a ruffling sound as Bickering Billy wakes up from his nap. I motion for him to be silent as he opens one yellowed lazy eye. Billy yawns and, by accident, strikes the wall while stretching.
The group jumps, me included. We can't wake her up, especially when the Living are around! Billy falls into his rotting cot, luckily asleep again. Though this particular group irritates me, I promised to myself to be a guardian angel of sorts, especially after the bloodbath last time. No more victims should be lost to Her. So, I decide to pick up my tattered white skirts and follow them.

The hallways have been mostly silent, but I know it won't last. Laughing Lucy's giggles vibrate through the air, and they stop.
"What the hell was that?" Michelle zips up the rest of her jacket. "Nothing, I guess. Anyway, I heard we'll find out how the Nurse murdered people if we go to the room where she did it, say "Nurse is coming," six times and spin in circles six times. So, I'm not stopping."
Owen puffs up his chest, as if he wasn't scared. They all are.
I manage to quiet down Lucy and take her back to her cot. But each step the group takes will just wake the others, and if that happens....
They step into Shrieking Sandra's cold spot. Uh oh.
She blasts her trademark scream and the group panics. They're scrambling over each other to escape and they run straight into the Little Old Lady's room as Sandra bellows, "GET OUT!"
The Little Old Lady wakes up and, to add to the commotion, her old rocking chair starts to thump back and forth as she stirs.
"Aaaaah!" The teens scream and the Asylum comes to life. Spirits struggle in strait jackets, eat their own feces, scratch into the wall, and jump out of windows. What they did in life, they now repeat in death.
I crumple to the ground. I grow dizzy and my head starts pounding. I spiral in a pit of despair and I can't stop it. It was hard enough controlling my ghostly instincts before my fellow spirits started up. The urge to appear to the Living grows stronger and I flicker just as my panic attack starts.
