Brace face and the apocalypse: the search for an orthodontist

Chapter 8: Sweet realease

The new day dawned and it was time to go Lyle and Edith and Sam had eaten and prepped their weapons making sure they had enough ammo.

They all made it to out the side exit and the Prime minster raised his hands and commanded his guards to follow Lyle and protect Edith and Sam.

They followed the guards across the road and there was a barely hanging blue sign with " Muchhauens dental practice" written across the top they finally made it and Edith smiled when she saw the sign.

At the door was a herd of undead banging and clawing at the door, Lyle pulled out his airhorn and aimed it in the air and held the button down and it made a loud honking noise.

All the undead turned round and walked towards the guards, they aimed their sheilds at the undead and beat them with their batons, it was just like a riot.

Lyle saw the undead had moved away from the door and made a gap in the door pointed at Edith and told Edith and Sam to run for the door.

Edith took Sams arm and ran for the door and when they got there Edith tried to pull on the handle but it was locked from the inside so she used her hand and started banging on the door hoping somebody would hear.

Suddenly somebody heard the banging and Edith heard the lock go to the side and the door open and somebody who was bald and had glasses pulled them in, she couldn't see who did it it happened so fast this might be Frank.

The man opened the door and looked at Lyle gesturing him with his hands to come in, he probably noticed him protecting Edith from the window.

Lyle ran to the door and slid in the side and the man shut the door and locked it and Lyle thanked the man.

Edith and Sam lay on the floor on this waiting room with magazines stacked and nice music playing almost like it was normal.

Edith and Sam got up and sat on the chair in the waiting room and Lyle saw a woman in a nurse outfit on the desk on the computer in the booth.

She looked up and asked how may she help, Lyle replied he was Edith's guardian and would like to see Doctor Frank for an appointment.

The nurse wrote on the computer and looked up at Lyle and told him the doctor will see them shortly.

She got up and walked out of the office and walked down the hallway and went down some stairs.

Later the doctor and the nurse walked back up and the nurse went back in the booth and the doctor went towards the waiting room.

He was surprised there was new costumers he hadn't seen this many people in his office since the outbreak started and it almost felt like it was normal again.

The doctor put his hand out and Lyle shook it, the doctor introduced himself as Orthodontist Frank Muchausen and that it was nice to see people again, Lyle introduced himself and pointed to Edith and Sam and introduced them, Frank shook their hands as-well and Lyle said they've traveled for miles just to get Edith's braces off.

Frank patted Edith's shoulder and told her and Sam and Lyle to follow him, they walked to the hallway and to a side room with a dentist chair and all the equipment laid out.

Frank told Edith to get in the chair and she looked at it and gulped nervously but Lyle knelt down to her level and said not to be nervous because this man is going to set her teeth free and they will fulfil the mission.

Edith cleared her throat and steeped towards the chair and sat on it, Frank used a remote to lower the chair down and put a mask on and got a mini unscrewing tool from the tray.

He looked into Edith's mouth and saw her teeth were clear and took out one of his tools and scraped her bottom teeth and tried to wobble it but they looked stable, the braces had straightened them and now it was time to take them off.

Edith smiled the biggest smile while her mouth was open and Frank got a unscrewing tool from his tray and went to the side of her mouth and unscrewed the one side and then he went round and unscrewed the other and then grabbed the brace hole with his fingers and lifted them up taking them off.

Frank put the braces in the tray and used the remote to put the chair up and once it moved upright Frank pulled out a mirror and Edith looked into it and shed a tear, her teeth were straightened and looked good, she hugged Frank tight and thanked him for getting the braces off and he said it was no problem.

Lyle asked if Frank was working on some kind of secret project he told Frank the people were suspicious and thats what Jake said he told him on the phone.

Lyle asked what it was was it a cure, was it some kind of weapon to stop the undead what could it be?.

Frank said he'd only said he was working on something and nothing more and it will be revealed in good time.

Frank said what he was working on needed more development and more time to be worked on so it could be perfected.

He said that he was working on this project but then Lyle and Edith disturbed him by coming in and asked why didn't they go to any other Othodontist, Edith shouted because Frank was the only one that existed and all the others had been overrun by the undead.

Frank didn't care and got up and said to the nurse he wanted to go to his lab now, the nurse passed him a card and hid bid Edith and Sam and Lyle goodbye as he walked down the hallway and down the stairs.

Lyle thought theres something shady he doesn't want people outside knowing about and they must find out what he is working on.
