It was finally here, the first day of the last year of high school. This is what I've been waiting for, everything has been building up to this moment. I get up and go to the bathroom, my sister is already gone probably to work or something. Since my parents and my other sister Steph, moved out to Connecticut, and I stayed back here in Ohio I've pretty much been alone. My 21 year old sister Emilia and I stayed behind. Mostly so I could finish senior year. I remember the day my parents told me they got a job offer somewhere not in Ohio, at first I cried then I asked, no begged to stay just to finish the last year I had of high school. After a lot of begging and a lot of talking, my parents decided I could stay just for the year they would pay half of rent, food and that's that. My Mom also said I had a bunch of "strict" rules while living on my own with Emilia, like no boys aloud over to the apartment. I couldn't stop laughing when she said that, like I would have boys over that is hilarious. Boys barley looked at me, but this year, senior year, would be the changing year for me and I couldn't wait to see what it had in store.
........
After a good hour of getting ready for school I got into my car and drove to pick up my Best friend Savannah, she lived in the rich part of Oakley which I never let her forget, in a joking way thought, she would laugh then tell me about something her mother did and we would laugh about that too, her family was so great I loved them so much. Her little brother and sister were so sweet and her mother was a doll. Her dad on the other hand didn't speak much. I had a suspicion he didn't like me but she insisted that he did so I left it at that. I pulled up to her house and honked twice to let her know I was here, she walked out in a gorgeous pink dress that was tight at the waist them bloomed out. I was happy because everyone always told her that pink looks best with her deep skin tone which it did.
"Hey!" She said as she jumped into the car.
"Hey wow you look great!"
"Thank you so do you" she said as she looked at my outfit, nothing to extravagant but it was nice. I had on a black skirt and a light blue crop top.
"You actually look great, I see you hit the gym hard this summer, I'm proud"
I Laughed as I drove to pick up our other best friend Carmen.
"Yeah, I told you I wanted to loose 30 pounds and I did, this year is the one to remember with prom and all I want to look my best."
"This doesn't have anything to do with Isaac does it?"
My face got hot. I felt sort of mad for her brining up Isaac. Isaac was a boy I had crushed on since grade nine. He was in my business class which quickly became one of my favorite classes of all
time. There was something about him that I just couldn't get over even though sadly we have only talked a handful of times and half of those times I was drunk out of my mind. But still something about him I just loved and this year I had made it very clear that I'd try to talk to him more.
I looked at Savannah then back to the road.
"No this has nothing to do with him Sav, I didn't speak with him once this summer and frankly I didn't even think about him." I lied I did think about him. A lot actually he was always on my mind. At the gym, while I was at work and before I fell asleep and every time in between. I'd could be doing something and then randomly he would pop into my head.
We pulled up to Carmen's house, and I honked twice. If I would of done that last year her brother would of killed me, or her for me honking but since he went back to South Dakota where Carmens family is originally from her house had been more homey. I've known her for 5 years now and I've just now have went into her house. Her mother was a sweet lady I always saw her get on the bus when I used to take it. I've never met her dad but the stories I've heard he sounds like a nice guy.
Carmen came rushing out of her house, her hair in her signature pig tails and her iconic red shoes that she has rebought I think 6 times now because her favorite Finnish singer wears them.
"Grade 12 already time has flew by" Carmen says as she buckles her seat belt.
" I know I still can't believe it,I kinda feel sad you know?" I reply has I drive out of Carmen's drive way
"Kylie is just sad that she won't see Austin anymore" Savannah says laughing.
"That's not true oh my god" I defend
Austin Tabbot was a fifth year that I met in grade 11 biology. In grade 10 I had history with him but we didn't actually talk until biology. He was a prefect in so many ways, many people told him he resembles Taylor Lautner, which is true. Him and I started getting closer he would call me cute nicknames and once he asked me what I was doing one weekend then said we should make love . By then I was has fallen hard for him, until the great day came when he got a girlfriend. I was confused but at the same time it made sense. I was a big girl, a chubby girl, no guy wanted me so I blamed myself for my broken heart because I was the one who let my guard down. I still remained friends with Austin and eventually him and that girl broke up. I had wished for them to break up obviously because he broke my heart but when it happened he was so sad I felt like a horrible person. He eventually got over his break up and that summer, Austin, our friend Bethany along with her boyfriend David hung out a lot. I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad that Austin wouldn't be with us at school but we still talk a lot which I'm very happy about because in all honesty I though we were going to loose touch right when the previous school year ended.
We finally pulled up to the school, I drove in to the student parking and instantly saw him. Isaac sitting on the hood of his silver volvo with a few of his friends. I instantly got butterflies in my stomach. i pulled into the parking space in the area dedicated to twelve graders. There was a side for 11th graders but many of those spots weren't used but I still followed the rule of parking in the correct section.
"Locked your doors!" I said before stepping out of the car. I shut my door and looked up towards Isaac. Our eyes met. We stared at eachother for a good 15 seconds until I decided to smile. He smiled back. He had the cutest smile, his eyes lite up everytime he smiled it was breath taking. I turn facing away from isaac. "Well that was something" Savannah snorted. I looked at her and laughed. "You're face is so red" Carmen whispers as we start walking into the school. I put my hands to my face to cool it off. i glace at Isaac to see if he noticed how red i had gotten, thankfully he wasn't looking at me anymore. The three of us procedded to walk into the school. As we enter the loyer foyer i think to my self, this is going to be a year to remember.
