Trigger warning: violence, depictions of blood, mentions of death, attempts at flirting by useless lesbians
SAE-BYEOK'S POV
—————————————

Everyone in the room stood with their eyes fixated on the cash, gleaming with obsession, hunger. God, the things I could do with that money-

My eyes scanned the room until I found her, 000. There was something about her I couldn't quite put my finger on. Her hair cascaded down to her hips, a single blonde strand in her hair that made her stick out in any crowd. But the thing that struck me the most were her eyes. I had caught a glimpse of them during the game when she turned around after finishing first. They were by far the most intriguing set of eyes I'd ever seen in my life.

The way they glazed over with a twinkle when she smirked, making you able to see your own reflection through them. They were gorgeous. But she always kept her head bowed down, blocking them from view. She glanced up at the money, eyes pooling in the golden light reflecting of the stacks.

Her posture, the way she never said anything, she looked so fragile, like she was made out of glass. But the way she managed to knock that thug to the ground in less than a second, how she managed to finish that game in record time would say otherwise. Why hasn't she said anything? What does she know?

Who is this girl?

KASUMI'S POV

"As you can see, there are two buttons in front of you. If you wish to continue playing, press the green button with an 'O'. If you wish to stop playing, then please press the red button with an 'X' instead. After you finish voting, move to the other side of the white line. Voting will be done in reverse order of the number on your chests."

A significant amount of players looked down to their numbers, afterward proceeding to look at the screen. I moved myself to the back of the crowd and sat down onto the floor with my legs pulled into my chest. Well, I'm gonna be here for a while.

"Player 456, please cast your vote."

Player 456 steps forward, obviously shocked by everyone changing their mind after seeing the money. He stops by the buttons before looking up to the guard in front of him, a look of disbelief etched on his face. He presses the red button before walking to the other side of the white line. Players continue to take their votes as 456 looks at them like they've gone batshit, this dude actually has a good heart, huh? I began to zone out, having to wait until everyone had voted before it was my turn. I remembered what okāsan used to do when we were stuck waiting for things.

"You know what I do when I'm waiting, Kasumi? I like to make movies in my mind and the people around me the movie stars. You should try it-"

I look to the players nearest to myself as one of the gets called to vote. He looks to the player next to him as they look at each other for a second before he walks up to vote. Their hands brush as the other player looks longingly at his departing figure, eyes glimmering with tears that threatened to spill.

An early 19th century forbidden love, he's leaving to join the army right after professing his undying love for him. The other one's a painter, the obsessed artist who finally found someone he loved more than his art. If the guards gave me some paper and the complete collection of Lana Del Ray I could literally write a New York Times bestseller in less than an hour.
