Separated from You

It all started with "Taehyung, I'm going to the US to study"

That night:

Taehyung is sitting on his desk, doing homework when he got a text from his boyfriend.

From: Jungkookie 💕

'Taehyung, meet me at the park. I have to tell you something'

Taehyung replied with an 'okiee<3', not knowing what's to come.

Taehyung went to the park that night.

He was sitting on the bench, waiting for Jungkook.

Jungkook arrived 3 minutes later than Taehyung.

Taehyung stood up and pecked his boyfriend on the lips.

Jungkook held both of his hands.

"What did you wanna tell me?" Taehyung asked innocently, tilting his head cutely.
He thought what Jungkook was about to tell him is something simple. He didn't expect the words that came out of Jungkook's mouth just after he asked.

"Taehyung, I'm going to the US to study" Jungkook looked Taehyung in the eyes with a serious but worried expression.

But even though he's worried, he still went straight to the point. He didn't want to beat around the bush.

Taehyung was left with nothing to say.
He was just staring at Jungkook with an emotionless face.
The light in his eyes disappeared.

He then snapped out of it.

He hugged Jungkook, his arms around jungkook's neck.
He caressed Jungkook's hair.

"Ok, Jungkook. Congratulations, my baby" he smiled to himself. It's a not so happy but still happy smile.

Jungkook hugged Taehyung back, he held taehyung's waist tightly.
All of his emotions went out.

He cried, in taehyung's arms.

Taehyung just kept on patting Jungkook's head.
"Shhh. It's ok, baby"

Jungkook sniffed but he didn't talk.

"When are you going?" Taehyung asked, resting his chin on Jungkook's shoulder who was now nuzzling taehyung's neck.

"Next week" Jungkook answered with a weak voice.

"Ok"

That night, Jungkook asked if he could sleep over at taehyung's. Taehyung agreed.

They slept that night hugging each other tightly with dried tears seen on their cheeks.

Jungkook didn't know that that would be the last time he'd be sleeping with Taehyung.

A few days passed.
Taehyung wasn't so clingy to Jungkook anymore.
He wasn't that sweet anymore.
He kept space between him and Jungkook.

He is hurt, after all.

Jungkook was extra clingy the past few days knowing that he won't be able to cling onto Taehyung when he goes to the US.
He was extra sweet even though Taehyung doesn't reciprocate his sweet gestures.

He asked Taehyung about why taehyung is not being sweet or anything because it's not like Taehyung was avoiding him. Taehyung does let Jungkook do whatever with him but he doesn't reply back. Like when Jungkook hugs him, he doesn't hug back, he just lets Jungkook embrace him.

Taehyung didn't reply to him whenever Jungkook asked about it.

Two days before Jungkook goes away, Jungkook got a text from Taehyung.

From: Taebear🧸💜
'Jungkook, meet me at the park. Let's talk'

He replied with an 'ok' and immediately ran to the park.

He arrived and Taehyung was already there, waiting for him.

This time, Taehyung didn't get up to greet Jungkook. He just looked at Jungkook and pat the space besides him.

Jungkook was hurt. Taehyung isn't like before anymore. Was it because of Jungkook going to the US?

Jungkook went and sat down besides Taehyung.

There was a strange awkwardness between them, just like the past few days.

They are both hurt, after all.

"Jungkook, let's break up"

Jungkook's eyes widened. His heartbeat picked up. He teared up.

He slowly looked at Taehyung who's looking ahead at nothing.

"I can't do it. I can't do this long distance relationship thing. I do love you. But I don't want to love someone who I won't be able to see and touch. I would just get hurt of not having you beside me"

Jungkook's heart ached. Tears fell down from his eyes but he kept quiet.

"You understand that I don't want that 'I just won't go to the US' shit, right?" Taehyung finally looked at Jungkook who's now looking down while tears fall from his eyes.

Jungkook nodded with a heavy heart. He understood.

Taehyung looked away when he saw Jungkook nod.

"I'm sorry. I just can't really do it. And I certainly won't hold you back. This is good for you and your future. I'm just another person who passed by your life and vice versa. It's better to study and have a bright future than staying with a person who can just be part of your memories.
Remember, Jungkook, I love you and I support you. Don't be burdened by my feelings and keep on going, ok?" Jungkook cried harder. He hugged Taehyung, crying.
Taehyung just sat still.

Taehyung is an honest person. He won't do that 'I don't love you anymore' shit just to push Jungkook away.

What he said is his honest feelings.

Jungkook pulled back from the hug.
And then he stood up.
He pulled Taehyung up by holding both of Taehyung's hands.

He finally made eye contact with Taehyung.

"I love you, Taehyung. I will always love you, my taebear" he then embraced Taehyung.

This time, Taehyung hugged back. His tears finally falling.

They pulled back and said goodbye.

The next day, Jungkook is at the airport without his boyfriend-
without Taehyung, his ex.

About to really go, he looked one last time, muttering a "bye, my love"

That time, Taehyung is at his room.
He stayed there, crying.
He fell asleep because of crying but before he did, he muttered a "bye, my Jungkookie"

Was it that they really weren't meant to be together?
Or was it just the wrong time?
Will they see each other again?
Will their paths cross again?

Years passed.
The past years, they really didn't do anything to contact each other.
They already ended it, clearly.
They went on with their lives.

But when Jungkook went back to Seoul, he didn't expect to see again the most beautiful person he's ever seen.

The bell rang and Taehyung looked up to look at the entrance of the cafe.

Their eyes met, time stopped.

Their paths crossed again.
And this time, they aren't going to let each other go anymore.
