You close your eyes in his arms. The silence between the two of you brings comfort and safety.

You rest your face by his chest and listen to the calm, steady beat of his heart.

As you remember the sight from your power, you almost hear a quiet melody that plays the strings to keep the rhythm.

Law touches your hair with such gentleness that sends a thrill down your spine.

He presses to your temple for a moment, then moves you up and buries his face to your neck, leaving a soft kiss on the curve of the skin.

You run your fingers into the raven locks of his hair and watch the silky strands glinting in the light.

The man tenses up for a second then relaxes as you keep playing, creating little, ephemeral curls.

"I wonder if I was ever truly free," you whisper with his last words still echoing in your mind.

Law takes a deep breath and leans back, letting you go to see your face.

"I barely know a thing about you, Wreny," he answers, absent-mindedly stroking your arm. "But if you are not, you can still choose to be."

You look at your hands and sit back to create more distance. The pirate scowls and you realize that it's because you made him let go of your hand.

"My blood bonds me to the Revolutionaries," you say, standing the weight of his golden eyes as they gleam from your words.

"My blood bonds me to the dead," he sighs. "It's flowing with the remains of a fate I got spared of by the sacrifice of another. But at the same time, it's the only memento of my home and my family."

Your fist clenches as you see deep pain shadowing his sharp features before he hides it again.

You almost subconsciously lift your hand and touch his chest in the middle of the pitch-black tattoo.

"It isn't," you shudder, collecting the rest of your strength to use your Devil Fruit again.

Reflecting a heart is the hardest of all the abilities you discovered through your life. Law supports your shoulder worriedly as your hand shakes.

"Wreny-"

"Let me," you stop him, and the man falls back into silence.

You take a deep breath and reveal his heart once again.

He recoils at first as you search through the black mist until you find the place glowing the brightest.

The one he remembers right now, making its light stronger.

"Our soul protects things we forget," you continue, but you can't move your gaze from his face as the rays reflect in his iris, drawing in your eyes as he smiles. "But we will never lose the chance to find them again.

He's beautiful.

And as Trafalgar Law touches the fragment, you tremble as his tears appear again. You see him reliving things but losing them again right after.

It hurts him.

I keep breaking my rules.

"Forgive me," you whisper, leaving one more kiss on his forehead.

But I suppose that's still a choice.

You end your ability and leave the man's embrace filled with guilt after you see his face empty and distant. You start your way toward the door.

"Where do you think you're going?" he shouts after you a second later.

"I must talk to Sabo," you look back, just to get a glimpse of him standing up to follow you.
