Leave my heart out of this

Prologue

"Is that one yours," my mom says pointing a blue luggage moving to us on the baggage carousel.

"Yeah," I say as i take it off the carousel and put it onto one of the carts.

My mom and I went to New York to visit my brother, who is in college, for the summer.

As we push the carts out of baggage claim my mom says,

"So how's that boyfriend of yours doing."

"Drew's good."

"Do you miss him."

"Of course. Is it crazy that I'm actually glad that summer's ending."

"No. You're in love."

Mom alway understands me. She has always been there for me. Every since my dad left four years she has been trying to be strong for my brother and me, but I know she is not happy and she has not been for a long time. Even before he left.

As we drive to our house I get a text from Drew.

"Hey, did you get off your plane already?"

"Yeah. did you miss me me?"

"Of course. I can't wait to see you."

"Me too."

"Well I got to go. Talk to you soon?"

"Ok, bye."

We arrived to our house in about five minutes. As we walk through the door my mom says, "So do you want to go out for dinner or has my popular daughter already made plans without her dear mother ."

She knew me so well.

"I'm sorry Mom I was thinking that I could take a quick shower and stop by Drew's. If that's okay with you," I smiled.

"Yeah go have fun."

"Thanks, mom. You're the best," I say hugging her.

"Yeah yeah I know."

I drive down the street to where Drew lives. I finally get to see him after what seems like forever.

I park my car next to the sidewalk and walk out. After I ring the door bell I hear footsteps coming down fro the stairs.

I cannot wait to see his face, to hear her laugh, to feel his hug, to hear her say those three words again. Just thinking about it makes me happy.

The door opens and I see him with only shorts. "Hey, what are you doing here," he says surprised.

"I wanted to see you. Are your parents not home"

"Uh noun they're out of town. You want go walk or something?"

"Um sure."

But then I hear someone coming down the stairs saying, "Babe who is."

I stood there embarrassed as hell staring at the tall nearly flawless girl wearing his shirt.

"Cam, I can explain," Drew starts as I turn around and start walking. I can already feel the tears coming out.

"Cam!" He yells grabbing my hand, " listen to me I'm sorry."

I turn around pulling away my hand and start to say. "I was gone for only two months. Two months! You could wait only two months. Do actually love me? Was every word you said just some bug fat add lie? Was this all just to see if you could break the little innocent girl's heart? Well congrats, you did." I turn around and start walk back to my car but he grabbed my hand again.

"Cam I do love you. You have to believe me I'm completely and utterly in love with you."

"Well I don't. Just leave alone. Please."

When I get into the car I drive away as fast as I can. As soon as I come to the first stop light, I sit there sobbing and hitting my hands in the steering wheel and pulling my hair through my fingers. How could he do this? Why would he do this? The guy I thought was the love of my life ended up breaking my heart into a million pieces.

That's when my life ended. That's when everything thing I had shattered before my eyes. That's when I lost all of my happiness.

I can't wait till I finally let go. Till I finally laugh because I'm happy. Till I finally smile with a purpose.
