The Leather Journal

Part 1, Will

Isaac wondered how the doctor, not the janitor, would be the murderer on the way to school thinking about the movie he had watched last night. "Hey, stupido watch where you're going! You'll stumble into someone Isaac." He bumped into Audrey, his best friend, and was sent stumbling back to reality. A reality where he's judged by everyone for being into all sorts of mystery-related books, shows, podcasts, everything. Everything in his life was related to the mystery.

The bell rang and he realized that he was late for class, Miss Ackerman was going to murder him. As he ran toward class ignoring what Audrey had been saying for the last 15 minutes and yelled to her, "see you in class!" After he reached math class, he heard some scribbling... The kid next to him was writing something in a small black journal with a brown leather back.

Later, Miss Ackerman put everyone in pairs. Isaac and the weird kid with the leather journal had some crew work to do together. The kid seemed smart, He finished all the linear sums in a jiffy while Isaac was zoned out the entire time. The bell rang and when Isaac asked to see the kid's notes he said that he didn't make any because he forgot his journal. Isaac had clearly seen him write something down, but why would this kid lie? Deciding to see what this kid was up to at lunchtime, Isaac went to his next class. 

At lunchtime, Isaac followed the kid to his locker and saw his locker password. After the kid left Isaac checked out what was in his locker. At first, it seemed like an ordinary locker but then Isaac found the notebook the kid was writing in. He opened it and saw this weird symbol on the first page... He also found out that the kid's name was Will. On the rest of the pages, there were many other letter-type figures that Isaac couldn't decipher. Then he heard footsteps and quickly closed the notebook and locker then ran away. 

After school, he told Audrey what happened and she also was curious to find out what was going on. But first, she asked for some photos of the notebook because she thought that maybe she would have some luck finding out what they meant. After a while, they finally decided that Audrey would research symbols and languages and Isaac would get the photos from Will's notebook. Isaac took pictures of the first two pages of the notebook. 

That night Audrey researched it... "A symbolic language that could not be verbalised". And she also found out what it meant. "He is not using his ability but he has no clue what we have done to him. I've been visiting him at night and his subconscious is still keeping it up. It still works. I will have to try and activate it somehow - 11/5/21". '' It looks like they are doing some experiment... But on who and what ability do they have? What if it's an animal..." Wondered Isaac "I don't have a clue" replied Audrey. "I think we need to read his whole notebook but that will be difficult to do considering we just met him and he's not even in the same class as us... maybe keeping an eye on him is better" Isaac agreed in excitement.
