Reader's side

Later

You shiver and move a little as a silent melody finds you in the other word, pulling you back to him.

Your mind stays in the mist of a forgotten dream for a few seconds, but your breath stops as you hear it.

Law.

You don't dare to open your eyes, not to disturb him. You slowly take the rhythm of his lungs, expanding behind the warm, wide chest.

You lay silently in his embrace, and the man strokes your hair gently while he croons a quiet song you haven't heard before.

His hoarse, deep voice softened and changed to the calmness of the ocean waves after a raging storm.

As you listen to him in the darkness of the room you forget everything else.

The world turns vast and kind, sunken into peace you have never felt.

You wonder why a man you barely know can bring you this present.

But as your heart misses a beat after he caresses your face, he stops singing like he has heard it.

"You're awake," he whispers a few centimeters from your ear, but you keep your eyes closed as the air leaving his lips tickles your skin.

Your thoughts are still empty from his closeness, so you don't answer him.

Law sighs and turns to his back, and you crawl closer to him again as you feel the distance.

He smiles briefly at your reaction, and the muscular arm curls around your torso again.

"I didn't want to wake you up," he says, his thumb drawing something on your shoulder.

You are amazed by how much is poured into these little, constant touches that he doesn't even try to put into words.

You answer the first thing that comes to your mind.

"I promised you a date tonight, Edgy," you murmur, then tense up as he scoffs after being hit by the nickname again.

But only a moment after, you join him as the pirate chuckles, his body trembling slightly.

It was a silly, childish laugh without no real reason other than happiness.

It was the best kind.

"Maybe you are still that kind of a woman," he smirks and shouts in surprise when you hit his side as an answer.

But you can't remove the smile from your face.

"Will you consider this a date?" you ask, turning to your left to rest your chin on his chest.

Law tilts his head and runs the long fingers by the line of your face, his golden eyes following the movement as the Sun passes the sky.

"Sleeping together?"

"Before I kick you down for waking me up."

He tsk-s, and it makes you laugh again. You lean forward and find his mouth, and everything brightens as he smiles into the kiss after catching some air.

"I can't sleep a lot," he says. "It's loud."

"Loud?"

Law bethinks, then touches his temple with his index and middle finger. His smile disappears as he gapes the word 'here' like he's afraid of giving it more strength.

You take a deep breath and press your forehead to his skin, trying to comfort him since you don't know what you say.

The man runs his hand under your shirt and follows the line of your spine, but he doesn't move farther.
