Licorice Pov
I put some things I had into a brown satchel I haven't touch in years. Surprisingly, it wasn't as dusty as I had imaged. It was hard to see in the dim lights of the room, but I can't wake anyone up. It has to be silent or all be caught and who knows what would happen next.
knock... knock.. knock....
My blood ran cold as I quickly turned off the lights and hid what I was doing. I was planning this for days and I simply can't afford a failure. Not now. The knocks continued.
I slowly open the door, only to be relieved. It was only poison mushroom.
"Licoooo", His words slurred with drowsiness, "why are you up late againnn. Is it already morning? What are doing? Do you want to see the spores? Can I come in, I'm not tired anymore. What is for breakfast?" His drowsiness seemed to be drowned out with questions. It wasn't the first time this had happened, I usually stay up late to finish dark enchantress requests, but I promised him that I won't do so anymore.
"Come in slowpoke."
"But you told me I was fassssttt." I didn't, but it's too late to argue. I open the door wider for him and let him in
"Licoriceeee, you told me you won't do it anymore. You woke me uppp." There it was. The small regret that was going to hold me back from my goal.
"can I sleep on your bed? Or are you going to make breakfast?"
"I'm not making breakfast in my room. Nobody even eats breakfast here." It was true. No one ate breakfast or lunch until all the thing we needed to do we done. But we sometimes had dinner. It depends on how dark enchantress was feeling. But I still remember days I went without eating since I didn't do something right or I could finish on time.
"Im hungryyyy. The spores told me that I wanna eat. They made my mouth dry." I raise a eyebrow to this statement. That is not hunger, that's thirst.
"Your thirsty then. Not hungry." I grabbed a water bottle from under my desk. I had water there just in case of migraines, which happens often.
I gave the bottle to him adding the rest of the three bottle in my satchel. It had everything I needed. Water, a watch, personal identification, books, pens, pencils, erasers and money that I kept without permission. It was two years worth of money, I was going to use it to buy myself a gift when I turned 25 (age of maturity), but I'm 18 and I need to leave thing damn place.
"What are you packing for?" That small regret was going to be a heavy one.
" look", I faced him, now holding the satchel, "I have to leave for a while. But don't tell pomegranate, shes going to to be veryyyy mad." He giggled at this.
" is that why you aren't in your robes?"
"Yes", I get a more serious, "I'm not going to be here for a while, so don't worry too much." I know he wasn't going to worry at all. He was probably going to forget abou me like everyone else.
"Take care of Bat-Cat for me, ok?" He nodded a bit, way less tired than before. "And you can keep the stuff I leave here, ok? but it only for you, no one else."
"ok" He yawned before asking to sleep in my bed a third time with I said yes. I grab memory book, my journals and scythe before leaving my room for good.
I walked down the halls and made it to the kitchen, where i grab a Hearty Rye and left for good.
Maybe I'll come back? Who knows. For all I know, I could be making a huge mistake. But freedom feels good right now.
