Amber's POV

We finally landed in Houston and all of my emotions started to come over me. It felt good to be back home, but I just wish it was under different circumstances. We finally got our luggage and were now headed to the hotel where we will be staying. Mama was driving because Amaiyah and I were up practically all night talking and we are exhausted.

"Mama how far is the hotel?" I asked

"About 35 minutes, but with traffic and apparently an accident along our route, it'll take us a lil longer." Sandra replied
"Good, then I can take another nap. Amaiyah quit hogging the blanket." I said grabbing ahold of it

"I'm not hogging anything. It's big enough for the both of us." Amaiyah said

Luckily the truck we rented; the entire back row reclines so you already know I'm about to be out

"Lay Lay, are you okay?" I asked as I noticed her rubbing her eyes
"I'm sleepy mommy." Lay replied

"Okay, here's your pillow or do you want to lay on me?" I asked her

"I'll lay on my pillow." She replied

After a few minutes we were all settled and before you knew it, we were out like a light

Sandra's POV

I didn't tell Amber or Amaiyah that we were staying with Veronica. I wanted it to be a surprise for the both of them. I also knew that Amaiyah would need all of the support for when she went to visit her parent's gravesites. Luckily, they were all asleep so the silence during the drive gave me time to meditate on a lot of things. I haven't told Amber anything, but I'm afraid. I know that God is on our side with this whole situation and everything, but I'm not afraid to say that I'm scared. Scared that Amber may lose Ja'Layeah if J Drew continues to lie. Ever since, Amber was served, my mind has been racing wondering what J Drew and his family will try to do. Wondering why they felt the need to sue Amber instead of just communicating with us. It's not like they don't know where Amber lives. All of these years, Amber has been an amazing mother to Ja'Layeah, despite the fact that she been doing everything by herself. Yes, she has Amaiyah and I, but Amber gets it done. I just know that God has the final say so in what happens with this situation. All we can do is pray.

*An hour and half later*

They were sleeping so well they didn't know that we had arrived at our destination. I hated waking these two because they slept so hard that even a bulldozer couldn't do the job. I decided to not wake them just yet. Instead, I texted Veronica that I was outside. I don't even think that my text went through fully before I looked up and she was the window, so I opened the door.

"Well damn, Wonder Woman. Can I at least finish typing first." I said as I laughed getting out of the car

"No, I've been waiting all morning for you. I'm happy that you're here my Sandy Bear." She said as she hugged me

"I'm glad to be here to Roni. I miss you." I said hugging her back

"Ever since you moved, it's been very boring here." Roni said

"I know. But I'm here now, so let's live in the moment." I spoke

"I see Amber and Amaiyah still sleep the same. Hard and dead to the world." Roni jokingly said

"Yeah, and Layeah is the same way." I spoke

"Let's see if my trick still works." Roni said as she opened the back door

"Yeah, let's see this. This is going to be funny." I said as I walked behind her

When Amber and Amaiyah were kids and even teenagers, Roni used to tickle their ears to get them to wake up. They were super ticklish, and the littlest thing creeped them out. Roni decided to start with Amaiyah first.

"What the-!?" Amaiyah said as she jolted out her sleep

"Haha! It still works." Roni said

"Auntie Roni I swear you and that ticklish move you love using on us is not cute." Amaiyah said

"Yeah, but it gets the job done. Hi my baby." Roni said

"Hi. What are you doing here?" Amaiyah said

"This is your surprise. We aren't staying at a hotel, we're staying here." I told her

"Yes!!! Let me wake up Amber and Layeah." Amaiyah said

"No, let me wake up Amber. You can wake Layeah." Roni said

"Now Roni, you know Amber's reflexes are fast. Why do you want to do that?" I asked her

"Cause it's fun and I love seeing her go Ali on somebody." Roni said

Amaiyah woke Layeah up and they got out the truck and went to grab their luggage out of the trunk. Meanwhile, Roni was waking up Amber.

"Who wanna fight!?" Amber said she woke up with her fists balled up

"Baby Ali, it's just me. Calm down." Roni said

"Auntie Roni, you know how I feel about being tickled." Amber said

"I know. That's why I do it. Now get out of the car and give me a hug." Roni said

"Wait are we staying here?" Amber asked

"Yes, you are, my Amby." Roni said

Roni helped up with our luggage and we headed inside. When we walked in, I noticed that Roni had did some redecorating. I guess that's what happens when you go through a tumultuous divorce. Out with the old and in with the new.

"Roni, I'm loving the redecorating you did." I told her as we made it inside

"Thanks girl, it came out better than I expected." Roni said as she sat on the couch

"We are going to go freshen up and we'll be back." Amber said

"Okay. You know where your rooms are." Roni told them

"Yep, I'm getting the bigger room too." Amaiyah said as she ran up the stairs

"You are one childish person Amaiyah Carter." Amber said

"I know. I'll continue to be that." Amaiyah said as she shut the door in Amber's face

"C'mon Lay, let's get cleaned up." Amber said as she headed to the room across the hall

Downstairs, Veronica, and I sat on the couch and started to catch up. But not before I got the real reason that Sandra came back home

"Alright, Miss Girl. That story you gave me about you wanting to visit just because didn't work on me. So, what's the real reason, y'all came back home?" She asked me

"If I tell you, you have to promise me you won't get upset." I begged her

"Sandra Denise Riley. Talk" Roni said in a stern voice

"Not until you promise me Veronica Danielle Davis." I mocked back

"I prom." She replied

"The hell is a "prom"? I asked her

"A half of a promise. Now get to talking." She replied

"I'll take what I can get. The real reason, we came back home is because Ja'Layeah's grandmother and aunt are suing Amber for visitation and/or custody rights." I told her

"WHAT!?" She yelled
