The burn felt like a fire ranging in my lungs, the ground like dry kindle beneath me. Thump. Thump. Thump. The beat of my heart drummed from within me. the dry leaves dug into my slimy skin. Every nerve in my body screamed at me, a chorus of pain and distress. My tentacles went numb as they wiggled around frantically grabbing at anything available, grasping at sticks and small plants as I tried desperately to hoist myself towards water again. Tentacles dropped to the floor, numb. It was then when I knew. I had lost the battle. The sounds of birds and small rustles surrounded me, cloaking me in peace as the harsh sun beat down. Darkness apparated around me, clouding my vision. My mind was masked with a haze as I slowly passed out.
