Scene 3

Luke, Kelly, and Rashad enter JIVE Records and take a seat.

Kelly walks up to the secretary and confirms meeting

Kelly

Hello. We have a 5:00 meeting with a (looks down at planner) Mr. Samson.

Secretary

(checks computer) Ok, please have a seat and I will let Mr. Samson know you’re here.

Kelly nods and walks away.

Secretary

(picks up headset) Mr.Samson your 5 o’clock appointment is here. (looks at Kelly, Luke, and Rashad) You can go head back.

They all stand

Luke

(looks at Kelly and Rashad) You guys ready?

Kelly and Rashad nod

Luke

Alright, let’s do this!

Kelly

Rashad, why don’t you stay here? We don’t want  them getting the wrong idea having all these people walk in with him like he has an entourage.

Rashad

Alright, that’s cool.

Rashad daps Luke up and sits down

 Kelly and Luke exit

(BLACKOUT)

Kelly and Luke return to Rashad pacing back and forth in the lobby.

Rashad stands up

Rashad

So how did it go?

Luke

(head down) Well…..THEY SIGNED ME!!!

Rashad gets excited

Rashad

For real cuz! How much they sign you with?

Luke

(holds up check) Lets just say, I got myself I pretty lump sum!

Rashad

So what are you going to do first?

Kelly

Well first, he is going to start a bank account.

Luke

Yeah imma do that first,  then im going to start a record label

Kelly and Rashad

A record label?

Luke

Yeah a record label. (Looks up and scratches chin) “Dapped Up” records or something like that but of course we can change the name. Yeah I can see it now.( STEPS DOWNSTAGE AND LIGHT FADES ON REST OF STAGE WITH BLUE LIGHT JUST ON LUKE) This label is going to have everything! All the equipment my artists need with the hottest producers! My artists are going to be able to make their own music their way with no changes or limitations. The motto is going to be “Our music has a message”(shaking head) right there on the wall as soon as you walk in. Yeah I can see it. (BLUE LIGHT FADES AND LIGHT ON STAGE COMES BACK ON) . (LUKE steps back and looks at Kelly and Rashad confused faces) I know it sounds dumb but I’m for real. I want to give my friends with talent a chance to let their music blast through somebody’s speakers.
