Chapter 4 Mistakes being revealed

- 8:30 A.M.

I was in the interrogation room. There were two police officers in the room with me. One fat white police officer, and a cocky black guy.

Where were you last night at 8:35 P.M?

I hesitated. I was super nervous.

I-I-I was at home.

Lets try this again. Where were you last night at 8:35 P.M he asked in an impatient tone.

I was at home.

They knew I was lying. But they just walked out for a minute.

After about 5 minutes went by, the black cop came back in with a thick folder.

Okay you said you were home. We know thats a lie.

But I-

Shutup! I know you were one of the guys who killed those young men! We checked the security camera in front of the arab store. We know that was your friends truck that pulled up to the side of the building. We just cant find the other suspect.

I kept my mouth shut. I didn't have a lawyer with me so I didn't say anything.

- 1:30 P.M

They let me have one phone call. I called my mama. She had already heard about the bad news. She was crying while she talked to me.

Why would you do that? She cried and cried. Your actions effect me too. Now people think I didn't raise you right. I do the best I can to take care of us.

I started to cry. I'm sorry mama, I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm going to get out of this mess. My call is almost up. I love you mama.

I love you too. I'm going to help get you out of there. The call ended.

5:00 P.M

They put us all in a holding cell together. What a dumb move.

Whatever yall do... Do not snitch!

Nigga you know we aint gonna say nothing Dee said.

Yeah man, I just cant do the time. Shit! I'm just scared.

I feel you. I cant either, but I know we're gonna get out of here. Just be patient and don't say a word to them. We have court next week. Just the lawyers do the the talking. Got it?
