Chapter 40: The Spider

"My group is made up of lost souls, you are more then welcome to join us." he said holding out his hand.
"Are you sure you're two buddies won't mind? I noticed they haven't moved since you got here and they weren't here before that."
"Ah they will be fine, I guess you can say they are like my escorts."
"Doesn't mean I trust them or that they trust me."
"But I do. So shall we?" he asked offering his hand out once again.
"Why should I trust you? Escorts? You're the leader of The Phantom Troupe correct?"
"Yes, I guess I can't trick you, so are you gonna call the cops on me?"
"No there's no point, you are strong enough and that's without any hint of your nen, plus you have your two escorts. I'll be dead before I can lay one finger on you to turn you in. Also it wouldn't change anything I still wouldn't have anywhere to go, you've been nicer to me then some other guys I've ran into."
"So does that mean you will join me?"
"Yes." I said taking his hand.
This man killed my pack, I want to make him pay still, I know revenge won't bring my pack back but I can get this anger out. No way I can kill him now, I can tell his strong and he's not alone, perhaps if I get closer I can learn his weaknesses and get him to let his guard down. I can get close enough to let him be alone with me, then I can strike.
We walked hand in hand down the street like any other normal couple might do, but we aren't a couple and he is a cold hearted killer. He lead me towards the outskirts on the town where there were a couple of abandoned buildings, the other 2 stayed behind us a good distance but not that far, I could smell them and knew that one was a male about late 20s early 30s and the other one was a male that seemed to be about their mid 20s, so many people walking around and women with perfume is making it hard for me to figure out a closer age for them, but the man holding my hand squeezed it a bit.
"You seemed worried, you must worry about them. They won't do anything to you I promise." he said softly into my ear.
"I'm not so sure, one seems more on edge then the other."
"That's just how Phinks is. He can have a bit of an attitude."
"I may get in his face then, but I won't kill him."
"That's fine. We're almost there."
He said as we made it further into the maze of abandoned buildings.
"Then how will they act?"
"You are my guest, you will stay by my side and they won't hurt you."
"I want to believe you but I have trust issues I guess."
"Then I'll just have to prove that you can trust me." he said as we walked into one of the buildings into a room with a colored window in the center of the ceiling.
"Here we are."
"Not too bad, I've been at worse places. So shall we all be introduced now?"
"Yes. Sharlnark, Phinks. Please come on out, I'd like you to meet my special guest."
The two walked out from behind a wall, one was tall with blonde hair and wearing a green and white jogging suit, the other was a little shorter with almost matching set of pants and shirt that in a way reminded me of Kurapika.
"HI, I'm Sharlnark and you must be pretty special for the boss to make you his special guest!" The other said with a smile...this guy is a cold hearted killer?
"Nice to meet you. And you must be Phinks "
"Just because you got the boss to like you doesn't mean that I do. I don't trust you."
"Well I don't exactly trust you either."
"Boss why did you bring her here, we can't trust her, what if this is all a game to her what if she's a cops or maybe her nen is like putting you in a trance or something."
"She isn't doing that. I trust her."
"But why and I don't wanna babysit and have to protect her if she can't even use nen! I mean what's so great about her! All I see is a useless little girl."
"Watch your mouth." I growled out.
"Or what?!"
I looked over at Chrollo who shrugged and walked over to a a big rock that was almost like a stage lit a few candles and sat down with his book out. I took that to mean it was OK for me to get in this guys face, so that's what i did, I changed into my wolf form and jumped on him. I pinned him down and turned back into my human form with a knife at his throat.
"I'm not useless nor do I need any protection. So watch your mouth before I really do something next time."
"BOSS!!"
"That's enough. Come sit." Chrollo said not even looking up from his book as he pointed next to him.
"I wasn't going to kill him or even cut him. Just want to make sure he knows not to make me mad." I said getting up and started to walk towards him.
"Wow you can turn into a wolf that's so cool!!" Sharlnark exclaimed with an even wider smile.
"I am a wolf I don't just turn into one." I answered sitting down next to Chrollo.
"That's still so neat! Don't you think Phinks?"
"Yeah sure...still don't trust you though." He said rubbing his neck.
"Thats fine, I still don't trust you." I said turning into a wolf and laying down.
It was quite for a while and I could hear and smell others getting closer a women maybe in her 30s, and two others males not sure of thier age. Once closer I sat up and looked down as the others noticed too and soon a woman in a purple business suit and blonde hair walked in.
"Pakunoda Hey! How have you been?" Sharlnark asked her.
"Longtime no see Sharlnark. You too Phinks?" she asked looking at him.
"You sure took your time getting here." he scolded her.
"Oh. I'm on time by my watch."
"You were supposed to arrive here 10 minutes early.. Same for you guys." Phinks said as the two others walked out, one looked like a mummy and the other was real small with hair covering most of thier face.
"Bonolenov! Kortopi! So you're going with us to?" Sharlnark said as each stepped closer.
I smelt another who honestly smelt as bad as when my whole pack would be on the run and hasn't showered in a couple of weeks. I sat still in wolf form next to Chrollo watching the others gather, there are more then I thought and I could tell another was about to walk in beside the really smelly one. Chrollo patted my head I guess he could tell my nerves were rising at the number of members here already.
"Hey! Haven't seen you in quite a while, I'm reporting for duty boss! What's our target for this time? I'm itching for our new orders!" The smelly guy said, he was big about the size of a bus or a big van, and looked like he was wearing the skin of a wolf, a regular wolf not wolf demon but still odd given the position I was in right now.
"Take it easy no Uvo, Feitans group won't be arriving until evening. We'll wait until everyone's here." Sharlnark told him.
"Impatient as usual the one named Pakunoda said.
"Damn that an entire half a day of waiting...Hey if it isn't Shizuku." he said as a smaller girl maybe early 20s or late teens entered.
"Hello." she said softly.
"Has the other new addition arrived yet?" Paku asked Sharlnark.
"Don't know yet. You should ask Machi." he answered.
"Hey boss when did you get a pet? Wait is that a wolf?!" Uvo asked finally noticing me.
"Oh she's not just a wolf she's a girl."
"A girl wolf huh? What's her name?" Uvo said ignoring what Sharlnark was trying to say.
"Go ahead and introduce yourself." Chrollo said to me.
I nodded and jumped down turning into my human form, as I walked over to the new members who walked in.
"My names Momo. It's nice to meet all of you." I said before I suddenly felt myself being picked up.
"WOAH YOU'RE A HUMAN WHO CAN TURN INTO A WOLF?!?! THAT'S AMAZING!! I LOVE WOLVES!!" The one called Uvo said holding me up in the air, and I truly hated being picked up.
"Put me down!!! If you love WOLVES so much then you should know we don't like being picked up!! Put me down!!" I growled out scratching his arms a bit.
"Oh sorry, my bad." he said setting me down.
"Hm, I don't know if we can trust her. I'm Pakunoda." she said reaching her hand out towards me, I felt something off and backed up letting out a loud growl.
"Now Now Pakunoda, with any cannine you should never approach them with your hand out like that, they see it as a threat instead offer your hand out like this." Chrollo said as he placed his in front of me, which I took as he gently wrapped his around mine.
"I'm sorry boss." she apologized bowing a bit.
"I think it's odd but interesting." the small one said.
"I agree with Kortopi." The girl with glasses said.
"I don't like her." Phinks groaned.
"That's just because she scared you." Sharlnark said.
"I wasn't scared!"
"Sure you were, you should've seen his face."
"SHUT-UP SHARLNARK!"
"Now I would've paid to see that." Uvo said laughing.
Chrollo lead me away with a soft hand on my lower back, to where we were before. I sat down next to him in human form as he read soon I felt him wrap a hand around mine, but he still wouldn't let me get any glances at it. I wanted to ask a few 'innocent questions' about the book but I felt that the others wouldn't let it slide so instead I sat with him until it started to get a little dark then I changed back into a wolf sat next to him and laid my head on his lap to he could pet my head. This time I got a look at the book it had a picture of someone and a short description of something but i wasn't sure what before I could figure it out he shifted.
I decided to lay down and try to take a nap. After about 5 hours or so I could sense people getting closer and sat up, there was a girl and 3 guys...wait I know that scent for the girl...it's the same as the one from Hisokas room. Wait why am I thinking of that jerk, that pink haired girl soon walked in followed by a short kid maybe a teen with black hair a older guy with long hair Put up and another really big guy with long ear lopes. I also smell a lot of metallic smells...guns and swords maybe.
"Hey Machi you guys made it!" Sharlnark said.
"Is the new guy here yet Machi?" Pakunoda asked her.
"I told him to be here it's not my fault if he doesn't so."
"He probably won't show." the smalle teen said.
"Feitan we don't know that, he still has time." Sharlnark answered.
"Hey Uvo been a while huh?" The one with long hair said.
"Nobunaga, ready to fight?"
"Always big guy." he said has they pumped fists.
"Hey when did the boss get a pet?" The other guy asked.
"Franklin that's not a pet, that's his special guest her name is Momo and she's actually a girl, but she can change into a wolf."
"Hm." was all that the new group had to say as they stared but I didn't feel like changing so I laid back down as we wait for the final guy to show up.
I was sleeping good when as they were talking an all to familiar scent came through...No...no it can't be. I sat up on high alert looking towards the scent, growling with my teeth bared. The candle next to Chrollo and I blew out.
"Oh dear that sounds quite gruesome indeed. I'm simply terrified." that voice said sending a chill down my spine as I dug my bails into the concrete.
"Hisoka you bastard!" Uvo said standing up.
This whole thing just got worse, I thought I would be able to get away from that creep. After everything he did, everything that happened with us, he can't just leave me alone can he, that bastard. Why is he here...Damn it, I just wanna leave, please just leave me alone. This just made my plans to get close to Chrollo and kill him more complicated....Damn it someone come get this damn clown.
