A candle flickered brightly in the corner of the room, casting a soft, orange glow on the walls. A few feet foward was a brown couch. And on that couch sat Ian and Anthony.
The two had been lovers for three years now and were positioned on the seat in a huddle of sorts, wrapped up in a blanket and watching an episode of Pokemon. Ian smiled to himself. Anthony was sitting wide-eyed and gripping his partner's shoulder for dear life, and the whole situation made him seem so incredibly adorable.
"You know, I can see why you wanted to watch Pokemon so much now," Ian smirked, giving Anthony a quick kiss on the cheek. "You're getting really into this,"
"Pokemon is something to take very seriously. It's no joke, Ian," Anthony replied, trying to act stern but grinning slightly. He pulled Ian a little closer to his chest and leaned down so they could kiss again. On the screen, the familiar theme song started to blare out, signalling the end of the episode. The two shared glances before bursting out into song, never missing a beat of the tune and violently thrashing their arms about in an attempt to do the actions. The song ended and the Smosh duo slumped back onto the couch, breathing heavily and trying to contain laughter. Ian was about to make a comment about the events of the last minute, but the slightly older of the two was the one to speak first.
"You know I love you, right?" Anthony suddenly stared at Ian in utter seriousness. Ian stared back with round blue eyes, wondering how the other had managed to go from laughing to serious in a matter of seconds.
"Of course I know that. And I love you too. Why?" He questioned.
"Because, err, if you didn't say that then it would make this bit real awkward," Anthony half-smiled nervously. He dug a hand into his pocket, searching, until he retrieved a plastic pokéball and a piece of notepaper. Ian gazed at the items in confusion and listened to Anthony's every word.
Clearing his throat, he began to read. "To my best friend and greatest love, Ian.
You're hotter than Charizard
Cooler than Mamoswine
Cuter than Jigglypuff
And more unique than Mewtwo.
Our love is stronger than Machamp, and everytime we touch it feels like Pikachu just hit me with a Thunder Shock.
You don't have to use Attract on me because I'm already head over heels for you, and there's no need for a Pokéball because I'd never leave you. Without you, I'd be as useless as a Magikarp using a Splash attack, and I want you to be the one I catch 'em all with,"He got down onto one knee and flipped open the pokéball. Inside lay a silver ring adorned with tiny coloured crystals arranged into an ornate pokéball pattern. Ian stared in disbelief and exitement, feeling tears of happiness prick up behind his eyes.
"Ian Andrew Hecox, will you marry me?" Anthony spoke softly, his eyes glittering with tears of joy. There was a silence then, due to both the men finally letting the tears flow, but Ian managed to say the words that Anthony had been longing to hear:
"Yes, of course yes!"
The two pulled in for a long and heated kiss, but afterwards, Ian muttered something into Anthony's ear. "I think Pokémon just became my favourie show,"
