The chatter of the diner was steadily rising as more teens came through the door, each smiling and talking excitedly about another victory, bulky guys and skinny girls filled the seats, causing most of the older customers to quickly finish there food in the need to run from the blood thirsty teens.

I let out a small sigh at the sad sight, i was so glad i was not one of those teens that cared about football or cheerleading, shaking my head of the thoughts i got back to work.

Wiping my hands on my apron i pulled out my note pad, quickly walking over to a crowded table with a fake smile "Hey im Arden, I'll be your waiter tonight what can i get you?" I said with as much fake happiness as i could.

A blonde girl with brown eyes looked up and smirks, that smirk was one i knew very well after all it was from Amber pafften, the principles daughter, the girl who has tried to torment me since we where five and i spilt my juice on her at school, in fact i caught her dad their oh so great principle fucking some of her friends...

"Well if it isn't the loser dropout, how have you been Arden, still trying to kill yourself" she said loudly causing some of the jocks and snobs to quite down and listen to our conversation, i never tried to kill myself just that day was one i found out a secret about myself that only Emi knew, and i only told her to keep her safe.

"oh Amber i missed you too, is your pedophile daddy still paying for you breast implants" my smile dropped as i glared at her "or are you getting the fifty year old man you have sex with to pay your bills instead"

I heard a few chuckles from the guys at the table as her face turned red and she sputtered "w..what the fuck d-" i immediately cut her off as i heard some of the younger women with kids gasp.

My facial expression hardened, i cuss like a sailor with my heavy irish and german blood but not around kids! "Now Amber there are children here you shouldn't use such foul language" her face seemed to be turning a tomato color, it made her look even more disgusting.

I looked around the diner, the few moms who had heard our little exchange smiled gratefully at me, and i nodded in return focusing my attention back on the table.

"Well your boring me, im going now, later" i discreetly flicked Amber the bird and walked away, looking around the large diner for Diana the forty-eight year old owner and also my boss, when i walked into the staff room i laughed on the inside at what i saw.

Diana and John her husband seemed to be arguing over some pizza doe, both of then seemed to be pulling it apart and some was even in Diana's hair, "No, no, no you do it this way!" Diana half shouted at her husband causing him to stick his tongue out at her, yes that's right he was a grown man and still acted like a kid, it was actually entertaining to watch them, how in love they are and they always seem to be having fun.

My eyes widened as i saw a chunk of doe flying twords me causing me to drop to the floor in order to avoid it, suddenly there were chunks of the doe flying everywhere and i could here them both laughing, so i did the only thing any mature teen would do dealing with immature adults.

"Stop!" I yelled grateful the staff room was soundproof, immediately they both froze as i stood up, their faces twisted into guilty expressions when they saw me, of course it was hard to keep a straight face as i crossed my arms and looked at the two.

"Aren't you guys supposed to be the adults in this room" they both just nodded still quite.

I sighed softly "Ok then why is there food flying everywhere, my shift is up i have to get home soon so you guys have to clean up your own mess"
John spoke up first as he raised his hand up in mock salute, "yes ma'am we got this"

I rolled my eyes, my face finally breaking as i smiled at them "you two are so immature" Diana laughed.

"Of course we would die without you munchkin, you've been working here forever!" Diana spread her arms to gesture around the room, "we will definitely clean, we made the mess after all, go home, you do have to close tomorrow night though don't forget you can also bring Emi if you want"

"Ok no problem, thanks Diana and John" they both smiled and waved me out as i hung up my apron and changed from my work cloths into some comfortable jeans and a t-shirt, i slipped my graphic rock over the shoulder bag on and walked out the back entrance.

My body seemed to relax a bit from the cool San Antonio night air, it was rather unusual considering the state of Texas was usually warm and i hated it that way, i walked down the city streets to my usual bus stop, i had about thirty minutes until the next one got here so i sat and waited thinking about my world.

Usually when someone thinks Texas is all stereotypical cowboys and ranches here, but that's not true at least not in the city of san antonio, the city is large, one of the biggest in the United states, you have everything from rich business men to gangster druggies.

I've lived in San Antonio for the entire eighteen years of my sad excuse of a life, I've always been overweight, my mom would playfully tease me all the time that was back when she was alive, when I was seven my dad started drinking every night, soon home became hell.

When my mom wasn't around my dad would take any chance he got to beat the living crap out of me, i always did my best to hide the pain, plus my body seemed to heal quickly, soon we found out my mom was pregnant, then a few months later i turned eight, i was so happy. It didn't last long though, she died giving birth to my baby sister Emi, my father lost it after that, there was no pulling him out of his drugs or alcohol, i would cook him meals when he asked and care for my baby sister all while doing my best to hide everything in school.

When i was twelve, Emi was only four my father tried to hit her for the first time, so i did the only thing i could, i hit him with a pan, its something any big sister would do, right? Anyway that night is one i will never forget, the rage in his eyes when they landed on me and the unbelievable pain of the most precious thing being stolen from me.

I never thought things like that happened to people until it happened to me and my innocence was taken, after that i shut down only talking to those i had to besides my two best friends and my baby sister.

When i hit the age of sixteen i quite school, so i could work full time at the diner and make sure Emi was never alone with that man, its been two years since then im eighteen and im saving money up for an apartment so i can take Emi away from my dad.

Emi's ten now and she has friends that i don't want to take her away from, but i also want her to live free of him.

"Excuse me miss" the sound of a voice cut off my thoughts and i looked up to see the bus driver with the doors open waiting patiently.

"Oh im sorry" i stuck the money in the machine and sat down at the back of the almost empty bus, thoughts of my life still swirling in my head as the bus drove down the street.

The thing that seemed to be taking up my mind was how i was so different from ordinary people, i didn't know how to control it and i did my best to never use it to my advantage, for the past ten years I've done my best to keep it a secret and hope that Emi isn't like me...
